Taken (DVD 2003)

Watched this dvd series almost back to back, each time you watch one episode you are left desperate to watch the next. It is full of real life incidents that have happened, been reported or believed so makes it extremely realistic and interesting too. It spans the generations of a couple of families and gives a great feel of the eras and atitudes and the emotional consequences of actions taken years before. A highly recommended watch. I watched my sons copy of this, liked it so much bought it as a present for someone and I am now ready to re watch it all again.

Fantastic !!! twists and turns galore and always keeps you guessing. Great production values , superb acting and cast.

I watched this some time ago when it was being played on Sky. I have been searching for this in my region!! However, only had copies in America.

The series is brillant, I could watch again and again....it knocks X-files into shape!

I`ve been meaning to buy this ever sinse I saw it on SKY TV. I like following the family involved from finding the UFO and part to years later and how it all reflects their lives. If you`ve never seen this show and like Sci-Fi, may I suggest you go out and buy it.

I used to watch this on BBC 1 friday nights, it is just amazing. The way each characters interlink with each other through the decades is just magical. Ace program, and a must see!!!

Absolute classic Sci Fi. Gripping, dramatic and poignant.
Spielberg has truly mastered this genre.
Be prepared to sit up all night to just watch one more episode, and another and ......

This has a brilliant story that will keep you watching till the very end . Very gripping and will keep you guessing right till the end. Definitely the best alien tv series i have seen. A must watch for fans of this genre.

I bought this boxset because it's a great drama for steven speilberg so it's definitely worth buying. I love the packaging and the way it shows the complicated family generations. Great purchase!! Great mini-series/

great tv series which has not dated all you would expect from mr speilberg the problem youn will have with the dvd box set is you will want to watch it all in one go .so make sure you have a couple of days off work to spare

This is a briliant collection of DVDs a good story line with a powerful ending. I'd love to see more. i'd recomend this series to ANYONE.

Spans over three generations.

As far as films go ,this is one of the best . Not too far fetched as to be beyond beleif . I am a great Sci fi fan .and I can really rec. this

I enjoyed watching Taken on the telly and was determined to watch it again so when I saw it on ebay it was too good to pass up. Steven Spielberg is a fantastic film maker and this is a must for any sci-fi fans. Should be seen before it's too late !!!!!!!!

A movie that would not condense into the length required for the big screen, Spielberg chose to produce this for TV instead. But it is no less featured than any other of his great sci-fi epics, and stands alongside the best of them.

I had seen this on TV before and, to be honest, found it quite slow starting. I did not quite concentrate on the subtlety of the plot, because I did not realise where it was going. I found the child’s narrative in the early episodes almost irritating, because the wisdom of the words did not appear at first to match the age. But as the series went on, and each thread began to make sense, I began to realise just how powerful those early episodes really were – and how well crafted. By the time not one but two magnificent climaxes appeared, just about every thread was pulled together – and I could not wait to watch the early episodes again to see and appreciate more clearly what I had missed. Hence the purchase of the DVDs, which I would recommend to anyone.

Taken needs to be watched more than once to be fully appreciated. Each episode more or less stands alone as a short story of real merit – with period detail (1950s to the present day) accurate even to the style of lighting used, and the colour balance characterising movies of each decade. But the whole is far more than the sum of those individual parts. The overall story must be the definitive “alien abduction” story to date – so much grounding in history, making it “believable” in so many ways.

If you like sci-fi that’s more than just kid’s stuff, give this a go!

I read the reviews on taken elsewhere on the net and so decided to buy. I was not disappointed, the acting from all cast members is great and the story is well written. It tells the tale of alien abduction over four generations starting from the 40's to the present day. I'm not a big sci fi fan but this was pretty good. Starts off slowly but hots up towards the end. 8/10.

A well written,plausible, and therefore, frightening, glimpse of the possibility of several families having been abducted by aliens over many years and the cover-up by the US Government. Still valid today due to recent deathbed disclosures by personnel present at Roswell in new Mexico when the first reported ufo's were recovered from a desert crash site and then the incident was denied and covered up by the US Government. Thought provoking as well as exciting tv.

I really enjoyed watching this - it kept me captivated. I was slightly disappointed with the ending but it is something I would watch again and again.

An excellent Steven Sielberg production about abduction experiences across several generations, centering on one family and their daughters special powers and the plotting secret governement who want to get their hands on her, spread across several DVD'S this is a lavish production with an interesting ending.

Steven Spielberg, best known for movies like E.T. and Jaws. Is responsible for the blockbuster that is Taken, a mini-series originally developed for Sci-Fi, is a multi-generation story of three families, and their experiences with other-worldly beings.

The story begins during World War II and continues up to present day, elaborately exploring the lives of people who have been abducted and others who would cover up such knowledge.

The story plays a little like an elaborate X-Files Episode, and not without good cause.... the material is certainly similar. However, it is treated with a level of intelligence that really captures the imagination of the audience.

Taken won the 2003 Emmy for best mini-series, an accomplishment well earned by the cast and crew of this enjoyable and massive film.
