TVonics DVR-FP150 (160 GB) DTV Receiver

Disliked the whole process of dealing with a Seller which provided a faulty product. I had to go through trying to resolve the dispute with the Seller which was unproductive. Was forced to raise a dispute resolution with Paypal and that process was lengthy battle which fortunately resulted in a successful outcome. The whole purchase entirely unpleasant.

A solidly built Freeview box with reasonable hard disk drive capacity (records approx 80 hours of TV which is more than enough for most). Setup is very easy. It is let down by the EPG chart truncating the programme names and the remote control being only almost intuitive. As for picture quality, we have found it is much better using the TVonics Freeview box than with analogue.

Excellent looking piece of kit. Very quite and easy to set up and use.

Remote can be tuned in to work other devices.

Doesn't have series link and you can't record two programs at once. Rewind and fastforward speeds are too few and far between.

Seems that there is a lack of aftersales support from TVonics. It says in the manual that feaures will be upgraded in the future but this is now not going to happen because of 'incompatability'. Shame because this unit has the abilty to be brilliant. It has two tuners but can't record two programs at once, why? Seems to be a software issue rather than a hardware.

This could just be the best on the market at the price easy to operate and install .It also seems to operate better than most in areas where the reception is a bit iffy , well that my experience .But you wont be dissapointed with this one.

This unit was designed and built by a group of ex.Sony engineers and it shows!
The build quality feels bombproof - the remote actually builds on the ergonomics of the legendary Sky+ remote and the unit shows out outstanding picture quality either on air or from recordings.

What's not to like?
