Finally, we the region-2 market get a complete DVD release of all the Christopher Reeve Superman films in a lovely smart DVD package box-set like the United States and Japanese release.
Richard Donner’s 1978 Superman movies, Superman: The Movie and Superman II are clearly the best 2 superhero movies ever made, but its a real shame that only the first movie was made into a special edition while the others didn’t get the same star treatment when transferred to DVD format.

Superman: The Movie got a great DVD release which includes a total re-mastered movie with superb picture quality and presented in true widescreen format, including 8 new added scenes, 5.1 super surround sound, two 30-minute documentaries with cast interviews, rare Christopher Reeve 1977 test shots, and deleted scenes which is all a hell of a DVD.

In this DVD set Superman II, Superman III and Superman IV: The Quest For Peace have only been transferred straight to DVD format from the original source, so even though the picture quality is still brilliant and their presented in widescreen also, these movies are only in 2.0 audio stereo sound and come with their original trailers, that’s it for the movies and extra features, nothing when compared to what Superman: The Movie is packed out with.

But rumours of a 13 disc special out there is just tood good to be true, but it isnt, see my other reviews.

I have heard a few rumours that Warner Bros have special editions planned for the other 3 movies later this year. This could well be true because as we all know (well Superman fans anyway) the new Superman Returns movie will open this year for 2006’s summer blockbuster, which means a DVD release 3 months after cinema release so they may plan to release the original Superman movies on special edition DVD around the same time to coincide with the new movie, just like they released all 4 Batman movies on special edition along side the Batman Begins cinema release last year, lets just hope.

What can i say, EXCELLENT!
Nothing on this planet will ever beat Superman for me, well saying that the forth movie totally lost me! but other than that not a bad word can be said.
My son reckons the effects are naff, maybe so nowadays but for our generation superman rocks and always will :)

The item was recieved in good condition. The packaging had some crumpling to one corner but this did not mean the item was faulty or damaged. I am pleased with this purchase.

Superman has to be the best film that ever came out of the seventies where special effects werent as fantastic as they are now.Christopher reeve who plays Clark Kent/Superman was made for the role and went on to star in a few sequels after this one.
Its a really shame he is no longer around to see the new Superman Film However what i loved about this film is the way it first introduces us to some central characters Like Lois Lane,Clark Kent,Perry White,Jimmy Olsen etc that appear in all the other sequels as well as the American TV series on the same theme later on.
I must say that this film had a hugh impact on these sequels,Tv Series and let us not forget the many hundreds and thousands fans of Superman that there is day and it all started with this film
It true was a classic and is still very popular today,great storyline,superb acting by the cast
all in all its gets a thumbs up for me and i would recomend it to anyone who like me is a true superman fan

I bought this dvd to go into my collection because I love the superman films-I did have this collection at one point but I give it to my ex because he begged me for it so I've rebought it for myself.

I love these superman films, they never age, Christopher Reeve eas the one and only Superman. These films can be watched over and over, they are timeless!

my daughter loves spiderman & watches this film everyday. it was deliverd quickly, packed well & in excellent condition. very pleased

the kids wanted this and they enjoyed it but i found it a bit cheesy still it was a blast from the past and nice to be able to watch all 4 films in order

I love everything to do with superman and to get all the films in one is awsome. I dont care that people hate the last two films i think there great.

I remember watching these as a child and thought they were brilliant. 1978 was the 1st film (6 years before I was born lol). I remember 'trying to fly' as a kid while watching them :-)

After having seen them again they still make an impact. Briliant cheesy special effects and lines - but that adds to the film. I would recommend watching them as he was basically the first superhero to be brought to the big screen properly.

My 4 year old son is a mad on superman,so when i searched and found this collection i just could'nt wait to start bidding for it.The end result was i won the bid and my son and i are so pleased with the quality and speed at which the dvd's arrived at our home address, we have no hesitation in recommending the person who put this item up for auction.

Finally great to see all 4 original Superman films with Christopher Reeve together. One and two will always be masterpieces, number three went off tack but Four "The Quest for Peace" brought things back on line.

In my opinion they are much better than the "Superman Returns" of recent years, but along with Supergirl, are excellent examples of comic book heroes coming to life and can be watched time and again.

disc playback is expected to stop now and then for the age of the disc but in general all is swell.

Classic superman is a fantastic comic remake.

i recommend this film to any audience.

I brought the dvd box set because I have always liked Superman and it something that I enjoyed watching when I was growing up. The boxset was good value for £10 and it contained all four of the original SUPERMAN movies.

Christopher Reeve's acting as the flying super hero can only be described as a masterpiece of its day. Superman was one of the best films around at the time and it has never been given the praise it actually deserves.

The musical theme that accompanies the movie is brilliant.

After buying Superman Returns (2006) and really enjoying it, i decided to see if I could get the Christopher Reeves films. You can imagine how happy i was to find the whole four films for under twenty pounds! From first viewing the films as a child I loved the whole 'saving the world,' 'good verses evil,' 'comic book caper' element and thought what's a few more dvd's to add to my ever-growing collection. The Complete Superman Collection is thoroughly entertaining and I'd recommend them to anyone who likes Marvel or DC comic book heroes.

I love the classic Superman films with Christopher Reeves.They are entertaining and exciting to watch!!

Fun to watch these classic Christopher Reeve Superman films. 1,2 & 3 are brilliant. However I think they lost the plot when making the BAN NUKES Part 4 - Quest for peace.

Enjoy them - I did.
