Super Size Me (DVD)

The director gives an ingenious look at the consequences of United States passion for eating fast food. before watching this flick I couldn't even imagine the horrible effects of junk food, now I have realized 100% how harmful it is for health. The subject is explored in a very creative way and the links between junk food and obesity provided simply flawlessly. Morgan drives the audience throughout America and tells everything we'd be supposed to know in the same tradition of Michael Moore but with a kinder and more hilarious style (and certainly less egocentric). I could only say the runtime should have been less long in order to be more effective.

Having seen this documentary on TV I bought it to help in my teaching it provides and interesting light on the world of fast food and I hope will stimulate my students to think about what they are eating and what it will do to their bodies the effects of living on nothing but fast food were highlighted clearly in this programme although as is pointed out most people would not try to live for a month on nothing but McDonald's it shows clearly the dangers of a high fat diet.

I am not sure what the children in my class will make of it but I hope that it will make them sit up and think it certainly did that for me. I would recommend that anybody with an interest in what they eat (especially if they eat fast food) watch this film as it will open their eyes to whole new world.
