This is a great album for any fan of rock. Great guitar riffs coupled with the amazing Corey Taylor (Slipknot) brings the album into a good balance. It's great to see a talented band that can put some great tunes together. However it gets a four because in my opinion there are only a few great songs on the album like "Orchids", "Get Inside", and "Bother". The other songs aren't particulary bad but they aren't great.

  What a great surprise !!

Being a great Slipknot lover, I thought I'd check this out as Corey Taylor was bound to stamp his mark all over it. But what sort of mark? A softer, rockier style than the slapface style of the numbered ones, or a teeth-drilling mindblower.

What I got was a cross between the two; a fine record with some superb shred moments, a more thoughtful lyrical form that I took to, and no feeling whatsoever that this was a gap-filling side project for two Slipknot stalwarts to make a bit of extra cash.

I thoroughly recommend this album; if you're a hard rock/metal fan, you can't go wrong with this, and it is vastly superior to their latest release.

A great debut from a band in their own right.

  The flipside of Slipknot

Coreys original band has been somewhat put on ice after Slipknots hugh succes, but damn I´m glad he found the time to do something about it again.

The nerve is there and so is the groove. Nu-metal? Yessir but with great respect for the heavy metal and industrial traditions. At times I felt taken back to the era of Metallica and similar metal bands.

The vocals are near perfect. Mixing the growls and and random outbursts of rage that we are used to from Coreys throat with rock and "normal" singing.

To sum it up - A much recommended album. Theres something for both the hardcore nut, the metalhead and those who just approach music with and open inquisitive mind.

Not too bad for a 1st album, but 2nd one a lot better

Like I said in the title, their 2nd album seems to be a lot better than this album. The music is a bit too slow and boring, compared to something like SlipKnoT's music/genre.

If you like SlipKnoT or Stone Sour's 2nd album, consider buying it. If not, probably stay away from it.

  Stone Sour

Songs mediocre with the exception of "Bother" which is brilliant. Stone Sour's second album "Come Whatever May" is far better and Corey Taylor is yet to get the recognition he deserves. He has a superb voice and, coupled with the moving lyrics and raw passion in his voice, I'm sure there's a lot more great stuff to come. If you are already a stone sour fan buy this album.

Possibly one of the best bands around today - Every song has a real quality feel about it & most even have alot of truth hidden within the lyrics.
If you love rock/metal then you've gotta buy this album.

See also their new album "Come What(ever) May"
