Album Notes Personnel includes: Sting (vocals, guitar); Branford Marsalis (soprano & tenor saxophones); Kenny Kirkland (piano, keyboards); Darrel Jones (bass); Omar Hakim (drums); Dolette McDonald (background vocals).Engineers include: Gerd Rauttenbach, Peter Brandt, Kim Turner.Recorded live in 1985.Viewers understandably traumatized by the birth scene in "Bring On The Night," director Michael Apted's documentary on Sting's first post-Police band, were doubtless relieved to learn that the album of the same name was not the movie soundtrack. Instead, it is an extremely well done concert set taken from Sting's 1985 European tour. The band, featuring Branford Marsalis on sax, moves through a nice selection of Police tunes and songs from Sting's solo debut DREAM OF THE BLUE TURTLES. Though nothing here eclipses the studio versions, it's all eminently listenable and is distinguished by outstanding musicianship throughout.
