Still Game is perhaps the best comedy series currently being produced by British television. The fact that it has reached a fifth series and is now shown nationwide (having run in Scotland since 2001) is testament to the success of the show, and its ability to remain consistently funny after five years on air. Scotland's production of comedy has ranged from brilliant (Stanley Baxter, Scotch and Wry, Rab C Nesbitt) to downright dismal (Meet The Magoons, Snoddy), but Still Game firmly restores the nation's comic credibility, mixing huge laughs with character development and engaging storylines.
