The Birth of the Empire ... the Circle is Complete !!!!
Review created: 05/09/07

The movie that ended the journey that for many Star Wars fans began in 1977 ... Revenge Of The Sith is quite simply the most dramatic and the most darkest chapter in the entire Star Wars saga !!!

Palpatine's rise to power continues, the Clone War becomes more intense and for Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker the future is clouded.

From the breathtaking opening space battle until the final scenes of death, birth and hope, Revenge Of The Sith constantly delivers !!! The chilling Order 66 sequence marks the point of no return as a hero turns to the Darkside and an Empire is born ...

Quite simply, Revenge Of The Sith is the Star Wars film the fans were waiting for ...... Episode 1 failed to deliver, Episode 2 raised the standard but it is Episode 3 that fully unleashed the full Power of the Darkside of the Force !

Not what I expected at all, in fact I think we where all so excited about seeing it ,and how we had heard how fantastic it was, that in the end it just didn't have enough to give, no real climax, pretty dull in places.

undoubtly ,as a star wars fan, i bought this dvd without question. i would be lying, and a rubbish fan, if i said it wasnt a good film.
this film has to be the best out of episode 1, 2 and 3, but theres no point in even comparing it to the original trilogy, they are so different in many ways and yet still really good, i can only compare to the previous 2 films.
throught this film the special effects are better than ive ever seen them, the first 5 minutes blew me away and i was almost fallin off my seat as i felt i was flying through space. this is true all throught this film. also the directions cant be critisised thanks to the legendary George Lucas.
the storyline is perfectly clear perhaps thanks to the fact that i know where it left off and where it was going to finish but this doesnt keep out any surprises in this film shown mainly by the great battle scenes.
this film is for most of the family, i wouldnt agree with its rating of "12" but i would give it a PG as younger children may be scared by the fictional lifeforms and battle scenes.
And ,of course, a must for all fans!

A must for all Star Wars fans. To be fair you can not compare it to the orginal trillogy but it is by far the best of the prequels. Answered all of the questions the Star Wars fans had about how and why Luke's father Anakin become Vader!
The story line is excellent, as you would expect from George Lucas. The battle scenes brilliant and the effects as ever out of this world.

What a great end to the Prequel trilogy.

Anakin kills a bunch of Jedi kids and turns to the Dark side - I hope I haven't given too much of the story away!

The lightsabre duels are amazing and General Grevious is just brilliant, as for the opening Space battle above Coruscant - have your surroungd sound turned up for a mind blowing experience.

Star Wars Episode III - Revenge of the Sith

Poor ending to the Star Wars cycle of movies - as widely accepted, it's badly cast and with dreadful dialogue. Major irritation though is the endless sword fighting. Dress it up as you will, a light sabre fight is basically a sword fight, and about as interesting to watch as one from any pirate movie. Much other silliness too - a droid with breathing problems? Surely the whole point of being a droid is to be able to fit new parts at will. And the "birth" of Darth Vader is simply thrown away - you can almost hear his thematic march being cursorily played on a banjo in the distance. Visually arresting though, of course.

A maturing Anakin Skywalker goes to the dark side of The Force and becomes Sith Lord Darth Vader. We experience the transformation in a dark, scary yet thrilling climax. The story here logically sets up the events of Episode IV, the original 1977 Star Wars movie in which Darth Vader goes to war against his own children, Luke and Leia.

Awful! Why Can't People See That?!
Review created: 16/08/06
1 of 3 people found this review helpful.

It's terrible!

Special effects that are not special. Acting that is mind numbingly poor. Storylines that try to be clever but are just dumbing down the moviegoers of today.

Do yourselves a favour and steer well clear of this. It offers nothing for anyone but the most die hard fans and even they must surely hate it for what is has done to spoil the memories of the original three. Almost as damaging to the first trilogy as those nonsensical Special Editions with all the added CGI.

Lucas, get a clue. The magic in the originals all comes from the aspects of the films that you didn't have control of.

  Episode 3. RISE!!
Review created: 15/01/06

1 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Star wars is without doubt one of the best film series ever, and the most popular. Whilst episode 1 and 2 have taken a hammering from some fans and critics, they are still good films, just not good star wars films in there eyes. Whilst I do like the first two I admit that they have some flaws. Sith however is in my mind, simply brilliant. The acting and dialogue is still a little wooden and cheesy, but that should not take a way from a great film.
The storyline is gripping and emotional, seeing how everything comes together between episode 2 and 4. I love watching the subtle seduction of Anakin by Palpatine, and the fateful chose that he has to make, slowly slipping to the dark side with out realising it, and the sadness of making those decisions to save the ones he loves, only to betray them. Not to mention the Jedi purge is very powerful and emotional.
The special effects are the best of any film around. There is so much to see that you will still find things after repeat viewings. The battle at the begging is spectacular, although perhaps there is too much going on and is still not as good as episode 6
The lightsaber battles are also brilliant, (although mace vs Palpatine fell a bit flat for me) the highlight being the amazing duel between Anakin and obi wan, that we have all waited 15 years to see, and it delivers. Credit to Hayden and Ewan, for practising that fight for 3 months, as it is so fast, you would think that they are actually Jedi in real life. Not to mention the superb music that plays in the background, throughout the fight and indeed the whole film
This film for me is classic star wars. Sith and Jedi all over the place, lightsaber fights, love, betrayal, hope, space battles. It has everything.
It is the darkest of the films, which I love and gives meaning to episode 4 title of “A new hope”
This has become one of my favourite films of all time, and whilst flawed I would rate it along side empire as the best of the lot, and over time I think more people will come to see not only this episode but the prequel trilogy as being worthy of the star wars name

Star wars- The force is with this film.
Review created: 09/01/06
1 of 4 people found this review helpful.

Let's, maybe, forget Episodes I and II. George Lucas should have started the prequel trilogy with this! All past sins are redeemed George - Even creating Jar Jar Binks!

Up there with the generally conceived best one of the lot, The Empire Strikes Back, Revenge of the Sith is a mouth watering prospect for any movie goer.

The birth of Darth Vader. That is what makes this film ESSENTIAL! And Hayden Christensen, slightly meek in Episode II, really proves to be inspired casting here. It's a shame that Natalie Portman is wasted (apart from one scene when she confronts anakin on Mustafar) with a tiny role, but Hayden's scenes opposite Ewan, especially the famed lightsaber fight to end all lightsaber fights, is astonishingly good.

This has got some of the most emotional scenes in the entire saga. Check out anakin's and Obi-wan's last conversation as friends; the emotion filled climax; and the dialogue free scene with anakin and padme looking out of windows, seemingly at each other, but it has so much meaning - this is when he chooses the Dark Side. It's haunting, epic and legendary.

This is what the Star wars story boils down to, what everyone has been waiting for, and it delivers in spades. Do we need to mention the special effects? Amazing as usual, particularly the opening space battle. Ewan is more at ease in his role, and seems genuinely having fun with his last foray into star was. Ian McDiarmid is all cakles and evil grins as the Emperor, finally coming into his own - and getting to grips with a lightsaber!

It ties up all loose ends, but there are a few niggles. General Grievous, although a brilliant character, was not really needed. Count Dooku was dispatched of far too early on. But in the end, you are just shocked at seeing what is up there on screen.

Afterwards, you have to watch the original trilogy. Just to see the man, who did so much wrong in his life, who had so much potential and blew it, finally redeem himself. Also if you have the new DVD trilogy have a look at the last scene, the sprit of Anakin has changed, a new charachter stands with Joda and Obi wan, a nice edition i think, thanks for reading i hope you found it helpful.

Lucas finishes off with disappointing ending
Review created: 22/11/05
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

There were many problems with episode 3 that, didn't necessarily make it a bad film, but made it dissatisfying. The over reliance on CGI and special effects made it extremely difficult for any of the actors to perform well even if they were fully comitted to the film. Natalie Portman had utterly had enough of the star wars franchise and just wanted to get out and therefore gave a less than satisfactory performance. The script was appauling which contributed to the poor dialogue and interaction between characters. Although some of the fighting scenes were good, (in particular Sam Jackson's fight with McDiarmid), some were just plain ridiculous. For instance Obi wan's fight with Grevious was stupid, 4 sabres vs 1, not even the best swordsman would stand a chance. All Grevious had to do was swing at his opponent with all 4 blades at the same time. I think Mr. Lucas had become a bit too giddy and was living a bit of a fantasy.

The main problem though with episode 3 which led to it being a dissapointment was all the hype which led towards it, fan sites around the world had been waiting in suspense and talking about how the film would redeem Lucas and live up to the success of the original films from the 70's and 80's. So when I saw episode 3 it was a bitter disappointment to what could have been the best film of the saga. It just didn't reach the quality beheld by the original three pictures which have become so well recognised and adored by audiences of all ages.

My advice to any potential customer is that this is a good film to watch just for the fighting and special effects but if you're looking for good acting or you are a true fan of the originals then you will be disappointed.

Very good for all ages. Spiritual meanings can be and should be discussed for those under 18. Space ships, stars and planets, aliens, evil of war, dark and the way of a Jedi (so called good). Spie or influence, leadership and submission. Basic rules of the univers. Rules of phisics and chemistry. Love and divorce. Life and death. Wisdom, power and faith. Little confusion as well. Rules!?
You would not get tired wathing it for 24 hours. But it lasts only a very short time, about 2 hours or so. I am waiting for the next one.
