The Spy Who Loved Me (DVD 2003)

Just dont make classic Bond movies like this any more.
The modern Bonds are little more than special effects gone overboard.
Sit back and enjoy a real Bond gem. Full of 'Laughs',terrific 'Action' (without the O.T.T.special effects) and the classic girls.

H.M.S. Fearless, which picks up Bond and his girl as the adventure comes to it conclusion.

This was the film where Roger Moore really came into his own as James Bond, and it's one of the very best Bond adventures. A memorable villain in the form of Curt Jurgens' Stromberg, comely female characters played by Barbara Bach and Caroline Munro, stunning set pieces (including the famous ski chase/parachute jump and the underwater car), exotic locations, the first appearance by Richard Kiel's enormous henchman, Jaws, and Carly Simon singing Nobody Does It Better over the opening credits...what's not to love? Brilliant.

This was originally bought as a gift for my husband, it is his favourite Bond film and I have to say mine. Although I was never a great Bond fan this is one i do enjoy. In my opinion one of the issues of the Bond films from this era was the rather loose storyline, relying more on stunts and gadgets. However, The Spy Who loved Me has a good plot, a strong female character, lots of action and gadgets that support the story rather than dominate. The photography and location work is also excellent. The humour is more subtle than some of the other Bond films.
