Album Notes
Personnel: Martin Taylor, John Goldie (acosutic guitar); Jack Emblow (accordion); Dave O'Higgins (soprano & tenor saxophones); Alec Dankworth (acoustic bass, cabasa); James Taylor (snare drum).Recorded at Castle Sound Studio, Pencaitland, United Kingdom on June 27-29, 1994 and August 8, 1994. Includes liner notes by Brian Morton.Something about this album captured more than just the core of jazz buffs and fans of Taylor's exquisite acoustic jazz guitar. It sold remarkably well and was universally applauded. Taylor is supported by Alec Dankworth (bass), Dave O'Higgins (sax), Jack Emblow (accordion) and guitarist John Goldie. The concept of paying homage by playing in Django's style, but not necessarily following his songs, is highly original. To choose to Djangoize Gershwin's "Lady Be Good" and Cole Porter's "Night And Day" was clever. To Djangoize Robert Palmer's "Johnny And Mary" and Pat Metheny's James Taylor tribute, "James," was inspiring.

Editorial Reviews
...serves the memory of the Belgian legend admirably. Taylor's warm guitar virtuosity on Django-related standards and pithy originals is swathed in the gorgeous gallicism of Jack Emblow's accordion, creating pure pleasure.
