The Sound Of Music (DVD)

I wanted one of these as a present for someone. In the shops they were so expensive. The one I bought had a sing along with it which went down a treat!

Our whole family love this film. The uplifting story of the Von trapp family cheers up everyone.My mum likes it for the romance, I like it for the songs. I bought this copy for my five year old niece because there was a sing along option. We've had some great times listening to her! Although the film is a bit too long it's perfect for wintry sunday afternoons in front of the fire. Highly recommended for all the family.

The sound of music is classic movie which is a must for every young family.
I bought through e-bay as it was two pound cheaper than buying from wh smiths or woolworths

Our video copy had become unuseable and thus this is just the ticket. The quality is good and the additional menu features including the singalaongs give an added bonus.

I was going to see The singalong Sound of Music and lost my tape version of the film, so i wanted to watch it a few times before i went. I never get tired of watching this film. It's such a brilliantly classic film you can watch over and over again. I even bought the soundtrack and play it to the children at my Day Nursery! They love it!!

I'm afraid the item you picked for me to write about is probably 1 of the few items bought of ebay that was not up to standards as this dvd keeps sticking so what more can i say...

This ebayer provided a DVD at a fraction of highstreet price! Was an excellent gift for my girlfriend to sing along to!!

Excellent DVD, the original sound of music but with a sing a long version should you wish to use it. Ideal to teach the children the old musicals I was brought up with and to show them a different tack to today's music or indeed what can be done with music. So refreshing to hear them singing along to do ray me rether than eminem!

...no it really is good family fun, sop long as your family is ot in the inner city else they are on the playstation

they don't make 'em like they used to ..even though this was before my time it al least gets the teething ones into a sing song (if they don't want to learn english, there's allways teletubbies)

Just a fun, nice, uplifting film that warms your heart.
Great music and lyrics, but if you're not a musical fan, then it may not be for you. It does have other levels though. Set in Austria during the 2nd world war, the film explores the power of the Nazis and how they manipulated and pulled families apart. But, of course, love conquers all!
Watch it! :D

Love the film so much, basically know all the words. Love Julie Andrews in it and find her hilarious when singing "I Have Confidence"!

WONDERFUL FILM THAT IS NOW A CLASSIC.GREAT MUSIC,ACTING,STORY,EVERYTHING IS PERFECT IN THIS FAMILY FILM.IF YOU ENJOY MUSICALS THEN YOU WILL LOVE THIS.IT BASICALLY TELLS THE TRUE STORY OF YOUNG NUN MARIA THAT GOES TO WORK FOR THE VAN TRAPP FAMILY AS A NANNY TO SEVEN CHILDREN.SHE FALLS IN LOVE WITH THE FATHER,LEAVES VTHE NUNNERY AND THE FAMILY FLEE FROM THE NAZIS.WONDERFUL SCENERY TOO AND JULIE ANDREWS AS MARIA IS SUPERB,AS IS CHRISTOPHER PLUMMER AS THE FATHER.A BRILLIANT ALL ROUND FAMILY FILM THAT IS VERY LONG BUT VERY ENJOYABLE.I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE.

Apart from the catchy tunes and happy words... the sound of music has wonderful characters and lots of moral truths which have been lost today. If you hate innocence and embrace relativist values, modernity, baby factories (creches and stem cell production mills) and old folk homes, abortion clinics, YOU WILL HATE THIS FILM. I say be the cynic but as for me I will fight every minute every day for them. Simply the best family movie of all time bar none!

Julie Andrews. Best film,she has ever done,her singing voice,her acting,the storyline,what a musical.One of the great films,to have.

ive bought this classic musical dvd film with optional sing along for a xmas prezzy for a friend...its a great film even if we dont admit to it out loud,brillant story and if like me you havent seen it for a while,its a good film to put your feet up and just get lost in the film and music.theirs not many musical that i can say that grab you like this one does...im no musical fan but id give this a 10 out of 10 through out.stop denying yourself and give a view.

Well, what can you say about this film that hasn't been said a thousand times before? I actually bought this as a gift for my daughter and her young family. The best testimonial to the film is that in spite of being around 45 years old now, it's always on in my daughter's home and the kids just love the storyline, the beautiful scenary and the brilliant songs. There are so few films around today that are uncomplicated, don't giving out an subliminal 'pc' message, aren't glorified cartoons and actually give an uplifting feeling through their treatment of human relationships and family situations. It has a real feel-good factor to it even though it is set in wartime. There is no swearing and no sex scenes!

God help us were it to be remade today (probably by Pixar and Maria would be ferret or some other creature and the Germans would be human poachers or some other nonesense like that). Either that or Marie would be drug-crazed nympho and Captain Von Trapp are Max Mosely type with the threatening invaders coming from outer space with deadly weapons and gases to poison the world.

Anyway: It might be old, but The SOund of Musici is still cracking entertainment specially if you havne't undergone a humanity bypass operation.

Brilliant...i can watch `Sound of Music` again and again and again....One of my favourite movies.I hope one day to see live `SoM`!!!!!

First movie I ever seen at the cinema, still makes me cry. Wanted to share with my six year old. Sing-a-long option with both screen and printed words in booklet, ideal. Six year old cant stop singing it! Love it.

This movie should not need any introduction.Undoubtedly the greatest movie musical ever made in the history of cinema. The backdrop is unbelievable and so are the sequences.The songs are absolute legends in their own right.

Excellent quality DVD of an excellent film. Much more entertaining than I remembered - some 40 years ago !!!! It included 'Sing-a-long' favourite songs and favourite scenes. A good 3 hours' viewing....... Nostalgic.
