The Sopranos - Series 1-6 - Complete (DVD)

Absolutely fantastic. Centered about Tony Soprano the acting mob boss, and his trials, tribulations and visits to a therapist!

I have watched all 6 series time and time again and every time get more and more involved in the plot!

From the manipulative mother, to the rebellious daughter, and AHD son, the Sopranos is a series of episodes, which end on a cliff hanger, and before you realise you have watched the whole disk!

I watched it convalescing in bed, I was going stir crazy with boredom, and this certainly kept me occupied. The plots are easy to follow, some gruesome bits, and some very unpolitically correct humour, the whole series is done in such a way, that you will grow to love Tony, and hope he evades the FBI, forgetting that he is the de-factor boss of the mafia.

Based in New Jersey, I can not wait to get my hands on the final 9, which is the last installment, so Chris if you are reading this- Christmas Pressie please

Not suitable for younger teens, this set of DVD's is great viewing, some scenes of a sexual nature, drug use, and the odd shooting, very graphically done

Happy watching - I would heartily recommend purchasing this - it is quite simply superb

I purchased this item, a six DVD set for £75 on 27/11/08 as a Christmas present for my son. It was listed as "new and sealed". As soon as I won the auction I paid by PayPal. I was notified by the seller (who had a rating of about 80 with one negative comment about a record he had sold which turned out to be scratched) that the DVD set would be posted the following week. On 03/12/08 I received an email from ebay telling me that the item had been withdrawn and advising me not to proceed with the purchase. A bit late! On checking, the seller was no longer an ebay member. The item arrived the following day and a cursory inspection showed that it was a pirate copy. There were basic spelling mistakes in the small print and no bar code on the box. I tried to email the seller but, as expected, got no reply. It was then I contacted ebay who advised I instigate a claim via PayPal which I did. They informed me that they required the item to be examined by an independent "expert" to verify it was a fake. I was given 7 days to complete this task at my own expense. I asked to send a scan showing the obvious errors which were apparent to anyone but was told that was not possible. I repeatedly asked to speak to a supervisor and was eventually told I would be transfered but could be on hold for 30 minutes. After 5 minutes I hung up. A call to Trading Standards was made. They said that they were far too busy to respond in such a short time. It was only with the help of a friend of a friend who works on the entertainment section at my local W H Smiths that I was able to obtain the documented proof required on headed paper. I had been instructed to forward this document electronically via the PayPal site. However, there was no facility to do so. A call to PayPals overseas call center was made and they informed me that technicians were working on the fault. They were unable to say when the fault would be rectified but confirmed that the 7 day deadline still stood. I offered to send the document via email attachment but this I was told was not possible as "it may contain a virus". (This from one of the biggest web companies in the world who accept millions of "attachments" in the form of ebay listing photos)!It was then suggested I fax the document. As I do not have a fax I was instructed to visit a library or internet cafe, again at my own time and expense. The document was faxed and I received an acknowledgment a few days later to say my claim would be resolved by 16/01/09. I was on holiday out of UK over new year but fortunately checked my email on the evening I returned. A request had been sent for me to sign a declaration the fraudulent item had been destroyed and return (again by fax) with a strict deadline of 3 days. I had one day left otherwise my claim would not have been honoured. I have now been told my money will be reimbursed "within 5 days". Still a few days to go but nothing showing yet. It would seem that PayPal have been as awkward and obstructive as the law allows. Had this been a single DVD which had cost a few pounds I would have given up which I feel was PayPals intention. I have been an ebay "Power seller" in the past and have spent a great deal of money with ebay and PayPal. When it comes to a problem where they may have to reimburse an honest customer they have been very difficult to deal with. I would be very wary of purchasing DVD's or similar on ebay in the future. I ended up giving my son the cash for Christmas instead!

It is very poor quality and you cannot get rid of the subtitles. I was looking forward to re-watching the entire series but not on these DVDs

There seems to be alot of counterfeit copies of this boxset floating around. Just look below on this review page to see the others who have recieved them instead of a real region 2 boxset.

Basically they copy dvds in a nicely presented box. The box is silver with 5 bullet holes and reads "the ultimate collection" at the top, just so you know what to look out for. It is a asian copy with spelling errors on the box, no barcode, asian subtitles and very poor quality picture.

These are being listed as the real thing using the basic stock photo. Be sure to ask for a photo from the seller before buying or you may end up being ripped off and have to go through the whole process of filing a dispute with ebay/paypal.

Very poor copies of what was supposed to be 'mint condition new DVD box set'. Seller seemed to be up for a partial refund of 33% when I pointed out 1 disc was missing and there was a double of another one. He did give the refund but when I went to watch the DVDs the picture was dark, there was shadows behind the characters and indeed the copywrite was in chinese! What do you make of that, cheap foreign copies in my book.

Asked for a refund and the seller said to send back, but won't do this till I get a refund. Gutted as this was really something I wanted.

I never received the goods and am still waiting to have the issue resolved ..... not the greatest experience of my life!

I paid for this item via PayPal and after 2 weeks had not received item. Upon going to contact seller via eBay I discovered they are no longer registered on eBay.

At least I was covered via PayPal protection and got my money back.

it was great to be able to watch the whole series when i wanted the delivery time was quicker than i thought it would of been 5 stars for service.

The whole boxset is brilliant every episode is superb!!!
Leaves you not wanting to wait to put the next one in, and yet you never want it to end like a good book, the acting is brilliant, it has it's violent moments, but also, touching moments, comedy and heart felt momenet as Tony Soprano deals with day to day life as a father, husband and leader of the New Jersey Maffia, the torubles that come and go in his life the varying relationships surrounding him and his shrink who is always there with advice.
It is just a completly brilliant series!!

i was looking for the box set for a while,saw this one for sale bib for it got it for a fantastic price.excellent item couldnt be more pleased.

This is not a TV Show but it's an art, it's hard to find an art which is perfect and painter must be gifted in this case David Chase (The Creator) is gifted.

I bought whole box set after it was recommended by my best friend, i was so thrilled after first 3 episodes that i finished whole 86 episodes in 3 weeks, every season after each other keeps getting better and more satisfying although everyone may have their favourite season, i still have to decide which one was mine,

Now if someone tells you to watch The Sopranos and you ask what it’s about and he replies ...mafia, you are going to say wait a minute. Am I going to be able to watch 86 episodes of that?

well mafia happens to be one of the subjects which is every episode but every episode has sub-subject if you know what i mean, at the same characters who are in mafia are effect by different issues in their life like such as Drugs, Prostitution, Adultery, Homo sexuality, taboo, murder, disease(illness), responsibility.
I can’t even name them all.
The show has also got very descent humour also in every episode, the show has many different characters but it’s very easy to follow.

EFFECTS:

After watching 86 hours of sopranos I am feeling very depressed this is because when you watch someone so much it’s like you know these people and when you don’t watch them anymore something doesn’t feel right, I have also been effected on my daily communication skill as I now using sentences like “get the F*** out” & I’m speaking more authoritatively as if I’m giving orders to everyone even in normal conversation with my friends, I think I need to see psychiatrist
Even after their crude nature the soprano’s characters are extremely likeable and leave lasting effect, I honestly felt worst when I knew that show was ended even more then I felt of “Friends”.

No matter what is your taste, you are going to love this show

If you are a fan of the series - this is the set for you! But be careful! You might find it difficult to switch of because you´ll want to know what happens to Tony Soprano, his crew and his family. The set contains every episode of the entire 6 seasons, some bonus features and a very nice outer box. However if you already own the single releases there´s no point in swapping because the content of the discs is identical. Hope this helps! :o)

You will watch this series again & again

Humour, action, excitement,love, pain....it has everything you want. If you love good dramas and love all these thing in your programme you will love this!

If you like the Mafia or not doesn't actually matter

What can I say?

Just the best tv series ever produced...by anyone. Packaging, presentation, reproduction and extras are excellent in the box set. Buy it...you will not be disappointed if you enjoy quality tv drama. However, if you are offended by bad language and/or violence, this is certainly not the DVD set for you.

never managed to see it when it was showing on tv.. a friend then advised me to give it a go and I have spent the last 2 - 3 weeks overloading on the complete sopranos ... tv will never be the same again.... this has so many levels to it and is a completely outstanding piece of work, you can easily watch it again and again as you pick up on new things all the time, gritty, witty, harsh, scarey, sad and lots more make sure you get the complete box set great value for money

A must for any crime drama fan. this is every bit as good as Goodfellas, or The Godfather 1&2 (3 was a bit crap!). Highly Recommended.

This is definately the best thing to come from American TV. 24 and Lost are both brilliant, but the Sopranos wins hands down everytime. I've watched all 6 series, they can be dark, gritty and gruesome, but also heart-warming, light hearted, funny. Not only is Tony Soprano portrayed as a ruthless mob boss, but also as a caring family man. You can't help but like the guy with all of his faults and misgivings.

My fiance has always watched the Sopranos and has had a passion for the Italian Mafia ever since watching 'The Godfather' about 5 years ago. He missed out on a few series of The Sopranos when it was screened on channel 4 and when I saw the complete box set on sale on ebay it was the perfect Christmas gift.

I wasn't sure about watching The Sopranos with him, but I have to be honest I am hooked. The storylines are really gripping and it has became really addictive, so much so we haven't watched tv since buying the box set.

The Sopranos follows the highs and lows of 'Waste Management' boss Tony Soprano, Italian American mob boss. It highlights the challenges and decisions a mob boss must make to survive in the 21st Century and to avoid the FBI at all costs. Tony Sopranos character is a love hate character, I found myself hating some of his traits yet growing fond of his character as his main aim in everything he does is for the good of the 'family'.

The series highlights many serious topics such as infidelity within marriage, drugs abuse and of course mob violence, yet also raises deeper issues such as the matriarchal figure in a family and how childhood experiences affect adult life.

Every character is different and you will find yourself having your favourites and wanting many of them 'clipped'.

The box set has 24 discs containing approx 4 episodes a disc and they run approx 55 minutes an episode.

I thought programmes like this were mainly for male viewing but I have thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I think it is a great series that connects the old Mafia rules with 21st Century mob rules. I love this series and would recommend it to anyone male or female.

If you like a great storyline, interesting characters and have a passion for The Godfather, then buy The Sopranos, you won't regret it.

Had rented this box set out but didn't get time to watch it all. when I saw it availabel on Ebay I jumped at the chance to buy it,mainly because the price was so reasonable. I find it great for thoes days when there is nothing on the 4000 channels of tv. I never got to wath the series when it was on TV so as you can imagin I'l enjoying it greatly. thanks Ebay

Fantastic series which is compulsive viewing from the first episode. Some times violent, yet other times histerically funny. I did not want the box set to end!!!!
