A very mature album written and sung by an 18 year old who blends Jazz, Folk and Pop with a honeyed clarity that blends Eva Cassidy,Joni Mitchell Cassandra Wilson, Mary Chapin-Carpenter and Joss Stone, whilst still being 100%Sonya Kitchell.
The album flows from one track to the next. Yet each one is so different from the others, and the guitar led accompaniment is great, blending so well with her voice. Her greatest asset is the apparent heart felt feeling which sets her above some better known singers.
Why have I not heard her voice before?
