Sony Walkman WM-FX290 Personal Cassette Player

I like the radio/cassette combination, plus the quality of the sound output. I needed to replace a lost item.

For a casstte-tape playing device, it is fairly lightweight & slimline, and simply requires 1 (AA) battery and has up to 35 hours long of playback!

It also has radio that can be tuned digitally + 40 radio stations can be saved, and the sound has substantial Mega Bass.

A great modern version of an 'old-fashioned' function device.

Having had a Sony Walkman Cassette Player for several years I was upset when it suddenty went wrong. As I am eighty three years of age and very deaf it was the only way I could listen to the radio. When I saw WM-FX290 Personal Cassette Player advertised on ebay I was delighted.
I was also delighted when it arrived the day after I ordered it.I obeyed all instructions but could not get the thing to work. I enlisted the help of my son and grandson but no joy.
As it was only very cheap I could not be bothered to post it back etc so I have bought one from Asda for £10 which is quite O.K. and is also an Alarm clock.
I do realize I could have sent it back but I am too lazy. Sorry.

I bought this sony walkman as I already have one,but I dropped it and the battery compartment wo'nt stay shut so have to tape it down,so I use this one for work.I wanted one for home and knowing how good this was decided to get same model.Added bonus it only uses one battery.Reccommend this highly.

I have been a fan of the Sony Walkman for many years,currently I am using my 3rd unit.During these winter days I have been converting my music library to digital format,most of the Music is on cassettes and I have used the Walkman to play the cassettes into my computer the objective being to download onto a 4Gb MP3 player recently purchased via the internet.I realised that my existing Walkman had been in use for about 10 years and it was because I was concerned that it might fail before my task was completed that I purchased the updated model.I have not used the replacement other than the an initial test which indicated an inferior performance compared with the existing model,this did not surprise me in view of its exterior condition which indicated that it had not been looked after,it is therefore held in reserve.I maintain full confidence in the Walkman but of course the technology is now outdated by the Ipod and MP3 player which have much greater storage capacity.

I have found this tape player to be very good value. It is every thing you'd expect from a sony product. Well made, it works perfectly and has excellent sound reproduction. Added to this is the fact that only one AA battery is needed to power the unit will help to explain why I am a very satisfied customer.

I bought this principally for the radio and was very disappointed with the reception. The signal contantly drifts as you move from place to place and this is in addition to the almost constant soft hissing. I've gone back to using my old radio with its analogue station finder which is fiddly to tune but clear and reliable when the staion is found.

As I have 100s of music cassettes & I use my walkman on an almost daily basis ,I thought I would stock up with a spare one or more at the right price, as they're not manufactured any more. I am well pleased with my purchase both with regards price delivery & Quality. I have never been disappointed with any purchases from ebay.

I dont read much but had been bought lots of tapes with stories on them over the past few years but I did not have a cassette player anymore so I looked for one on e-bay and found this.It was second hand but in A1 condition,fitted what I wanted very well.

I was used to my old one and when it finally expired I wanted to still have the convience that I was used to. Ilove the uncomplcated way of operating and the compact size.
