I really loved this laptop but the motherboard blew after 13 months - just outside Sony's 1 year warranty. I stupidly didn't have an extended warranty so had a choice between £560 for Sony to repair the motherboard or scrapping it. Ended up threatening the retailer with court action and after 8 months of letter after letter I've got a cheque for the repair. Sony customer service is non-existent if you're outside the warranty - you'll have to pay premium phone rates just to talk to them! So, to summarise - great laptop, not worth the risk though because if it breaks you'll get stung by Sony.

These are a great little machine. They are so compact, with a fantastic screen and reasonable performance for basic applications.
You are, however, taking something of a financial risk in buying one. They, like any other laptop, will go wrong at some stage. When they do, you can only source parts from sony, and they are ridiculously expensive. Customer service is OK, but lacks any kind of personal touch and they have price 'banding' for repairs. In short, they can be very expensive to repair with little back up from Sony, regardless of circumstances. For any major components ie motherboard, don't expect much change out of £500. Something to be aware of!
