Sony VAIO and Propietary

The VAIO series has always provided that sleek modern design whether its for desktop PC's or laptops, however sometimes the exterior beauty can deceive you about the inner truth. Now i'm not suggseting these models are below par in performance as various models come with powerful processors and sufficient RAM letting you do all sorts at once, but if any hardware were to fail or you simply wanted an upgrade..then this process is one you will want to avoid. Now as with any laptop upgrades will either require a skilled technician or will need the laptop taken to a shop to be worked on, however the sony will require the full unit to be shipped to them were they will diagnose the problem, then repair then ship back to you. Seems simple enough?...Well not when the relatively short warranty is gone as the VAIO series used whats called 'proprietary' parts. These are parts solely based on the model and can be quite tricky to obtain, unless of couse you send your system into Sony, which can take quite a while for it to return and always scares with its pricey labour.
This review is not a flame on Sony neither their VAIO models but to issue a realisation to the flaws of propietary based PC's.
