Sony Vaio notebook, 2nd hand

Buying computers second hand can be problematic. So I was pleased to see that on opening the Vaio, it worked more or less straight away. Over time a few problems cropped up, such as:
1. was described as having max 2Gb memory - turned out to have max 1Gb capacity - not a problem yet, but in couple of years time it might be.
2. no built-in microphone - so had to buy a plug in microphone for Skype use - its a bit awkward, not is easy as built-in one.
3. Some RAM memory errors
4. no Windows or 'Restore' disk came with it and every time it is started up it comes up with a message like 'Restore not completely finished, insert Restore disk'
5. Probably as a result, I have noticed couple of windows features not working correctly - the Power options in particular.
I think that I should have bought an older version, but new notebook with manuals, disks, etc for about £200 more than this second hand one. As it is I will have to live with these little problems for the next few years.

these machines are good value for money, still work perfecly satisfactorily, especially when fitted with 1Gb memory, because thay have loads of sony specific features, its good to have the recovery disks. they come with XP i wouldnt use with vista due to exessive needs of vista [viz: needs at least 2Gb].
