Sony SRS-T80 2 Speakers

I am a Sony freak, I love their products, as they use their own design and development on everything they make, and use no other component part in any of their bits of kit, this is why they are ultra reliable, but more expensive than any of the other brands which buy in their components from the likes of Hitachi,NEC etc saving on development costs which reflects in their price, and sometimes poor reliability, unlike Sony.
I bought these SRS-T80 travel speakers for my NW-HD5 mp3 player to use while on holiday. I have been acustomed to my sons Sony Ericsson phone speakers which are a little tinny to say the least, but nevertheless better than nothing, so didn't have high hopes for any type of speaker which was compact. Having read a few reviews on Amazon which were favourable I thought I would shelve my plans to buy the older SRS-T70's and try some of these, and i'm glad I did.
They are slightly longer than a PSP, and about the same thickness and height give or take, with a neat little stand which pops from the rear, be it a little flimsy, but does the job well, a chrome trim to the upper edge and the two conrols to the top of the unit. The sound is very crisp, but does lack a bit of base, but has an overwhelming volume level with very little distortion at all. The only distortion I noticed was when you used the power direct from the player, but I put this down to insufficient power for the amp to function correctly.
My overall opinion of these is they are a little expensive new, but they are close to the best i've heard for the size, the only thing being better was three times the price and needed a seperate sub woofer!
A nice product, nice finish, good quality sound, compact, and with the optional mains adaptor are very very good to run, they may be a little thirsty with the batteries at high volume, but to get the best from them, they must be powered either way.
