This unit is the replacement to the highly successfull RDR-HXD710.
Its an action packed unit, with a freeview tuner, 160Gb hard disc drive, dvd recorder plus the ability to "upscale" your standard dvds.
If you have a Hd ready tv, well worth buying an HDMI lead and using this unit to play your dvds. It will upscale the image to 1080i, and enhance the quality.
Rated as product of the year for DVD recorders 2006.

*update may 2006*
This machine is about to be replaced - the new rdrhxd870 is an almost identical machine, but supports "theatre sync" (a new feature coming out on sony tvs) plus upscaling to 1080p.
So you should see the price of the 860 drop as stores try to dump their stock ready for the newer model.

Dead easy to use and flexible. Allows you to record an entire series without needing to program each episode in.

First class picture quality and easy to search through adverts.
