I had considerable problems in getting the system to work in conjunction with my Sky+ and video recorder. These were to do with setting the system up and I stilll am unable to change channels via the DVD controller.
Having swapped the unit to operate from our second Sky box I can now record and get excellent definition but have not mastered how to pre programme a recording. I'll work on it.
The reason for my purchase was that I had hoped to be able to fast download stored programmes from my Sky+. Bit disappointing but no complaints about my purchase.

We brought it as it was top of the range at the time and a SONY. As all other items we have are Sony they just worked easy together. Had a bit of problem setting up. We are not technical minded. Then everything fell into place. Extremely happy with it. Managed to record all my VHS tapes onto it with no problem. Have only exchanged to a newer Sony model, as my husband has to always have the new line!

a good machine, pretty solid, great record quality. the only pain is that it takes forever to format the discs, so if youve forgotten to load the disc some time before recording something on television, its likely you'll miss the first minute or so! also, whenever it is formatting, writing disc data etc it says so on a massive grey box in the middle of the tv screen, which i find unnecessary and annoying! other than that, great.

good dvd player. bit tempermentle with certain dvd dics/ took me a long time to find right one suitable. even so have tried to record programes over xmas through my cable box & must have used several discs which i have used for the biggest part of a year, records for about 5mins then stops sayin "dirty discs" anyone have same problems?
