I chose this item as it was new and still in the box and I wanted the item as a Christmas Present for my Son - I chose the Sony RDR-GX120 as it was mentioned in Which magazine as a good buy - so far it seems to be excellent.

Not the best sony machine on the market - but this is a budget end model.
Only records to +r and +rw formats, but will playback -r and -rw formats.
A good machine if someone wants a basic recorder, although lack of freeview tuner may be a downside as we all start the digital changover.
