As you all know by now, this is the only PS 3 console edition that has built in "half of PS 2"...so it can also play 90% of PS 2 games aswell, for those who still are inloved with some PS 2 games that are not available in Bluray format for PS 3 ( maybe not just yet ).
It also has a built in card reader, and 4 USB ports...things that the 40 GB edition and the 80 GB edition do not have, probably in order to produce them as cheap as possible, so the price can be affordable.
To be honest, i don't think that Sony will put again the "Emotion chip" as it is called by some in the future editions of PS 3 consoles...as they might not want ppl to keep buying PS 2 games...instead of the more expensive PS 3 bluray games.
It's entirely true that the quality of Bluray over standard DVD is a lot better...and this would be a good reason not to put the chip anymore...but for those PS 2 fans out there it would be really nice.

I went for the PS3 basically because I had the first two consoles and they were great reliable machines, however I did consider the Xbox 360 this time as it is cheaper however my friends have had reliabilty issues with theres.
I think the first thing to note with the PS3 is that it is so much more than just a games console its a multi media system. The graphics during game play are great, blu-ray movie quality is amazing another breat bonus too is that you can upscale an normal DVD to full HD quality(1080). This was bought to replaced my new PS360Gb after an unfortunate incident involving my cat! Suffice it to say that PS3's are NOT waterproof!

Although I could have had a 'new' 40gb from the insurance payout, I chose to buy a 60gb as they have more HD space (well duh!) 2 more USB sockets and critically, a built in SD card reader. This one came with GTAuto IV and a second controller which made it cost neutral.

As for the console - well anyone who's played on one will know they are graphically excellent, have a growing software base and have a multi cell CPU that will do great things as the games writers get up to speed with it.

I also have a Nintedo wii which is lots of fun for the family to play together, but the graphics quality and speed is nowhere near that of the Sony.

Apparently the 80Gb US version will not be released in the UK 'this year' and importing an overseas model will give you grief with region coded Blue-Ray content.

So in summary, if your cat mistakes your 60Gb PS3 for a litter tray, there is only one sensible way forward, - buy a replacement UK spec 60Gb from ebay :-) Only thing that puzzles me is why anyone would want to sell one? LOL

This EBAYER IS A RIP OFF MERCHANT. NO PRODUCT RECEIVED ITEM BOUGHT AND PAID FOR BY PAYPAL PS3 NEVER ARRIVED. Numerous contact with EBAYER but said he was posting it by Royal Mail but never seen. Got some compensation from Paypal still to this day I'm down £250.

I will know better when the outcome of the PAYPAL claim is settled due to the consol arriving in a damaged state!

I bought this item as it came from a person who had a very good feed back and this is the only person who was giving a warranty with this item.
I received the item in excellent condition and I have been very pleased ever since I bought it.

I bought it for my son as a gift. 60Gb is much better choice than 40Gb.I must say this is turning into the best of the 3 next-gen consoles available, it has a built-in blu-ray player (i think this is still the cheapest player on the market) plus numerous other features like card readers built-in wifi and the ability to play near enough any game from the original playstation & playstation 2 (every single game i have tried so far has worked), the operating system is brilliant, very much like a psp, and with not being restricted to what hdd size you would like (you can change the hdd for any available 2.5" notebook sata hdd) you could theoretically make your ps3 any capacity you want, along with internet use and the new divx update they did in the last patch, this is as close as you can get to an all in one entertainment centre, i will state that this model is far superior to thye 40gb model as there is no backwards compatibility, no card readers and it has 2 usb ports less then the 60gb, (60gb has 4) so my message in all of this is if you can find one of the original 60gb ps3's anywhere buy it as you will not regret it.

Numerous contact with EBAYER but Tryin to blame Royal Mail for losing item, given me a bogus number to try and track the item throught the Royal Mail. Cashed my cheque and now claims to be on holiday!

Backward compatible so it will play PS2 and PS1 games also. Has the PSP style menu system, easy to use and understand. Has internal memory for photos and music, maybe video too, just insert your sd card from your camera/camcorder and you are pumping stuff through to your HD telly. Not sure if upscaling possible with home footage, but it probably is. Machine looks cool, and stays cool if looked after - needs 4" of air around it in order to stay cool - it will overheat in a tv cabinet with the door closed. The games are cool, on a hd telly you are in the 21st century of gaming. This is also a top blu ray player and sony lead in that department. Thanks for reading.

The Graphics are amazing. But there is so much more to these pieces of equipment than just a games console with it hooked up to the internet which is very easily done with a wireless router the Playstation3 is a full media entertainment system and it looks cool too.
Hefty price tag but once you've got one the money doesn't matter.
