For ages now people have been telling me that I should stay clear of the ps3 that the Xbox 360 was the way to go, But my mind was unchangeable I wanted a ps3 from the first moment, and I believe it is the right choice in the long run they may be a shortage of games in the Uk market but this will be a temporary problem and eventually the Xbox wont be able to keep up with the games on the ps3, Apparently Microsoft already had problems getting Assassins Creed onto there disc so it wont be long before the games don’t fit and your are forced to upgrade to an hd drive even then HD DVD's arent as big as Blu-Ray. Now once you have decided on purchasing a ps3 there are a few available options everyone tells you to buy the 60Gb if possible but I personally believe that the 40Gb is the better option. Here are the reasons people tell you to get a 60Gb and my thoughts on them.
1. You cant play ps2 games on the 40gb console.
well you cant play all ps2 games on the 60Gb either there is a list you need to check to see if the game will work. Also I still have a ps2 for ps2 games if I want, and let me ask one question when you bought your ps2 how many ps1 games did you ever play on it I know I never played one. PS1 games will work on any PS3 and are playable on your psp aswell through remote play
2. Its only 40Gb
It may only me 40 gb but that should be more than enuf to keep you going and the HD is fully upgradable people are putting 300-500gb HDs in there ps3's so is size really an issue, specially as HDs are so cheap nowadays.
3. It only has 2 usb Ports
How many do you really need at any one time, one charging a controller one with an external HD, and if you really do need more than 2 you can just plug a usb hub into one of the ports.
4.It doesn't have card readers
why would I need card readers on my ps3 I have a pc for that. But again if this is important to you you can purchase a usb card reader.
So these are the arguments for an against the 60gb and 40gb consoles but I have left one thing out that not many people know, the 2 consoles use different processors and the 40gb console has a quieter cooler more reliable cpu in than its 60Gb counterpart that is prone to overheating especially if you have a imported version of the 60gb console. So for this reason alone I believe people should buy the 40gb console Sony did stopmaking the 60Gb for a reason.
And on the Note of games if you fed up with the Uk releases you can buy your games from anywhere in the world as the ps3's games are region free and work in any ps3. Hope this helps Some of you out there

The long awaited PlayStation 3 is finally available in all stores and prices are steadily decreasing.
I bought the PS3 as an upgrade to my previous consoles (The PS2 and Nintendo Wii). Being a heavy gamer, having the latest and most popular games console is a must.
I didn't buy it just because of it's looks. I bought it because of the wide features on the PS3... it allows me to connect my PSP to it and browse my files. Anyone that has used or owned a PSP will be able to navigate around the GUI with ease. The web browser is really quick and it allows you to connect to the Internet using WIFI or the internal Ethernet connection. It is ready to use out of the box with the ability to choose an alternative language upon first startup. There are regular firmware updates that add features or improve existing features.
Another great feature of the PS3 is that it allows the user to install "Other OS" so you can install various flavors of Linux on it. Making the console more than just a media center.
When I first started using this console with the standard RGB cable. The quality of the pixels looked very grainy. But when I had bought a 1080p HDMI cable and had it connected to my HD LCD TV. The difference was greatly noticeable by the level of colour and the sharpness of the gameplay.
What I like about the PS3 is that the online service is completely free, so you can be up and running straight away and not worry about renewing your subscription every month. I downloaded the Gran Turismo HD and Ninja Gaiden Sigma Demo from the Online Network and when I was done with them I simply removed it from the hard disk. The PS3 has a unique download manager, that allows you to download multiple games from the Sony online network and whilst you are waiting for the download to complete you can still play any other game from disc or already pre-installed on your hard drive, and when the download has completed a small pop up message appears to let you know it has been done so you can go back to the menu and run the game. This means you can still use your PS3 even though it is busy with another task. This is the advantage of the Cell CPU.
The PS3 uses a 2.5" SATA Hard Disk and it is easily removable, meaning you can change your existing 40GB hard disk and have it fitted with a massive 250GB if you have the extra cash. The maximum the X-Box 360 Elite can handle is 120GB and it is not as easily expandable since it needs to be official X-Box hardware, whereas the PS3 does not. If you install Linux it will only use 10GB of the hard disk.
The PS3, like the XBOX 360 uses wireless controllers and uses the USB port to recharge the controllers. I was surprised by how long the battery lasted on my controller, perhaps because it is new. The rechargeable battery is integrated into the controller, even though it seems so light. Therefore it does not need to be bought separately like the Nintendo Wii and 360.
I honestly believe this console is here to stay for at least another 5-7 years because of what it is capable of. If anything £299 is more than reasonable for what you get for your money. If you have a HDTV, you will be able to use it to it's full potential. If you have a standard TV, it may feel to you like your Playing on a PS2 and you will be limiting your experience.
There is so much more I want to say... But I'll leave it to you to discover them when you have bought it :D.

Wow, this console is just fantastic. The graphics are enough to blow your socks off! The wireless controllers make gaming so much more fun you can practically sit anywhere you wish to play. They have kept the simplicity of the controllers which is an added bonus and the console itself is the best looking console of this generation. However, it is not the best Cost wise, it is a very expensive console to buy and you have to buy games and other controllers on top and can get very pricey. But once you get over that the joy that comes with it is just so fantastic, any Sony fan would be lost without one of these, plus they have some exclusives to them! Brilliant item

This console is trully a step forward. Its graphics are intenselly realistic, its HD performance using HDMI is biblical and its shere power outperforms all competitors. Its beautifully crafted exterior hides perfectly the monster that lurks inside, the cooling fans providing an adequate stream of air to the unique Cell processor without any noise. You can litterally mute the TV and unless your ear is brushing the back you still won't hear this thing working. But by god, it works. We took delivery a few weeks ago of a 42 inch Samsung HD LCD TV which we have in our living room. As the gorgeous black PS3 fitted the colour of the TV and stand, we decided to keep it in the living room, and we have never been happier with that choice since. The sixaxis wireless controller's battery life is unbelievable - after a marathon of playing GT5 Prologue online for at least 5 hours, we had only lost 1 cell (out of 3), and im certain at least half the battery was left. The Blu-Ray disks that all games for the PS3 are written to can hold far more data than a standard DVD, and this shows with a huge step up in graphics technology. We rented a few films on Blu-Ray a night ago and were baffled at how much detail could be put into colour in our living room. The HDMI performance really does boggle the mind and puts into perspective just how much of a leap forward the PS3 trully is. A few have criticised the PS3 for being far too expensive, but all new technology is, and honestly? Buy one of these off ebay second hand and it will cost you well under £300 (mine cost around 250 but came with a HDMI cable and a game). This is one investment i will never be forgetting, everything from the stylish body, the retro disk drive, the whisper quiet running, the wireless controllers, the free wireless online play via PS Network, the graphics, the power...
if all this doesnt justify the price of the PS3 then you should really get your head checked out. This is one mean machine not to be missed.

This seems to be the best pick for Choice of good games, Fun multiplayer, Good accessories choice and more,
The reasons i'm saying this are:
You can use any Blue tooth device for a microphone unlike the xbox you have to have a set Microsoft Official make,
The harddrive can be easily upgraded to 250GB for as little as £40-50 unlike Microsoft's 120GB for £100+ only option if your a premium console owner,
The Online is free and lag free and matches to Xbox live's online that you pay Monthly/annually for,
You can usb/external HDD transfer anything to your PS3 as long as the device is FAT32 not NTFS, which makes it the ideal movie/picture/gaming machine, typically matches for a backup Console if you like to keep backup's.
The list goes on..
Overall i would rate this the best console out of the lot unless your a gamer who loves your "Only on Xbox 360 games" which i would say are good and attract you to the 360 but for the price and saving for future proofness the PS3 is the best, as Microsoft seem to be wanting Money, Money money off there customers.
I would rate the PS3 as Excellent although being a big fan on 360 Too, it still overpowers Microsoft by Far.

Excellent games console, fantastic graphics, built in hd dvd, free online gaming unlike the xbox which costs more cash. plug in a keyboard and you can surf the web too. Nuff said.

First of all I’ve never bought a ps3. I took place in a lottery by paying the seller 2 BP.
A day after, the item removed from the ebay and of course my 2 BP as well as the BP’s of other ebay members (thousands? Millions? Who knows?) were disappeared!
I must confess that I and two other friends we knew that the whole thing was a fake but we took place in the lottery just for fun.
Talking seriously I think that ebay must avoid situations like this, taking more care, responsibility and support to its customers (buyers).

i liked the ps3 because when your bored it entertains u and makes u happy. i like the ps3 and the graphics on that are excellent it looks like real life people are in there and also the ps3s fans dont make as much noie as other any console. but ths is the only thing i hate about it is a bit big but besisdes that excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been toying with the idea of purchasing one of these to sit along side my Wii for a little while and when the chance came along to grab a used bargain I could not say no!
The console has to be used with an HDMI cable on a HDTV to get the best effects out of it and it does look stunning when you do. The wireless link is great for logging yourself into the Playstation network and downloading free demo's or movie trailers etc.
To be honest I love the PS3, even though I own the 40gb version that will not play the old PS2 games, because the new games comming out are so good you wont want to play the old stuff anyway!
This console is perfect for hard core or casual gamers alike, where as the Wii is just dusted off when we have friends around. If you can then do get both as they are a completely different gaming experience but both have great features and games. Enjoy!

its an excellent product lots of features brilliant graphics great for watching dvd,s its far better then the playstation 2.i would rate this 9 out 10 against the ps2 which i concider is more a 6 out of 10.
i cant say there is anything i dislike about this product well done to the makers and graphic designers i decided to buy on recommendation and was i little sceptical but i am so glad that i did

Playstation 3I also have an xbox 360 and was a firm beleiver that the 360 was a better option. When Sony won the high definition dvd war, I decided I would get a PS3 to play Blu-Ray movies on. I got the PS3 and thought it wasn't working when I first turned it on as there was no noise. I have been used to the racket that the 360 makes when it's running so the almost silent PS3 was a shock to me. I am now converted to the PS3 and will be buiying the majority of new games for the PS3 rather than the 360, it seems so much more user friendly.

PS3 - Excellent Buy!!!The PS3 is an excellent console to buy. The games that you can play on it, like MGS4, are much better than that available on XBOX360. Also the graphics are immensly better than the 360. I reccomend the PS3 rather than the 360, it's just simply better.

The future of gaming consoles. However due to the lack of software available at this time (mainly due to the fact I already own most wanted games on the X Box - due to the achievement system) It is primarily a Blu-ray player for now. Hopefully the new Trophy system will remedy this in the future.
