Sony PlayStation® 3 (60 GB) Console

If you compare it to the Xbox360, Right now they are pretty equal when it comes to graphics. No major differences apart from PS3s 1080p support. So why is the ps3 a better buy then the Xbox360.

Well start by looking at this,

Ps3 60gb ~£400 [Updated]

That is including a blu-ray reader
Wireless internet
HDMI support
Free Online Gaming
and a 60gb HDD

Also remember, unlike the XBOX 360, the games are Region free, so you can buy games for half the UK price from the US and play them over here before they are even released!

Xbox360 ~£270

That is with just 20gb so add let say £25 for an upgrade, would say thats a pretty low price for upgrading a 20gb to a 60gb. (total @ £295)

Then lets add the Xbox equivalent to the blu-ray reader, The HD-DVD, there about £130 on ebay. (Total @ £425) Dont forget that this is a large chunky box outside your xbox, and the HD DVD is currently loosing the fight against blu-ray 3:1

Then the Wireless reciever, another £30-40. (total @ £465)

Oh yeh, and dont forget that you have to pay a fee every year to use XBOX live think thats about £39 (a bit more actualy).

So over a period of one year a fully equiped Xbox360 will cost you over £500 and a Ps3 that not only looks better under your TV but also preforms allot better then the Xbox will cost you £425.

Not only that, but Blu-ray is outselling HD-DVD 3:1 so it is allot more likely to be the standard media storage in the future.

True the Xbox has a lot more games right now, the graphics aren't much different to the PS3s right now but it WILL max out before the ps3. Remember the ps3 is allot harder to program games for. But onces the game designers get a hang of it you can expect brilliant games to come!

Here's a few games you might want to keep your eye out for! Final Fantasy XIII, Devil May Cry 4, Metal Gear Solid, White Knight and there are lots of rumors of a remake of Final Fanyasy VII, one of the best games ever made coming to PS3 ONLY!

EDIT: Sony have just reported a pricecut in the ps3, so we will likely be seeing it go down buy around £100 until xmas! Right now we can already see it for the same price with bundled games + controllers!

"Sadly" tho microsoft wont be able to do the same with the 360 since it has over 33% failure rate, and they just went out and said that all xboxes made during the last 2 years have a fault in them that could cause them to break early. to make up for this they have prolonged all warrentys by 2years, but it dosnt stop the fact that they will loose big money on this and will most likely loose this battle against the ps3 because of it.

I am not sure if anyone of you bought a PS3 60GB recently, if yes......have to tell you the truth.

PS3-60GB
This is the 1st launch for the PS3. 80% of the 60GB are supplied to Asia and US during first launch. This model emphasis on the compatibility with PS2 games. The console comes with TWO CPU to process PS2 and PS3 games respectively. It also built-in with 4 USB port, Bluetooth, Wireless LAN, card reader, which is the BEST PS3. However, due to the extreme high cost in producing this model, Sony has decided to launch the PS3-80GB model.

At the same time when Sony launch 60GB, there is also a 20GB version. This model also support with PS2 and PS3 games, however, it does not comes with any Wi-Fi and by that time, no one really want this model.

PS3-80GB
This is the 2nd most welcomed model. The 80GB was the 1st model after reducing the production cost. This console now comes with only ONE CPU which handle both PS2 and PS3 games. The loading time of the games was a little bit slower than the 60GB version. However, as the selling of the PS3 is still no good, Sony have no choice but to further reduce its cost.

PS3-40GB
This is the latest model and is the only model which you should be able to buy from. This model no longer support PS2 games and to further reduce its cost, there are only 2 USB port on the console, better than the 40GB, it comes with Wi-Fi. The 40GB model comes in 3 colours which is Black, White and Silver.

Some people are now looking for the very best 60GB and the PS2 compatible 20GB, however, they are discontinued and will never be re-produced. I have a 60GB model which the ROM was dead, when I bring back to Sony, I was asked to change with a 40GB model for free as there will no more main board for the 60GB model.

The 60GB is history, is the most powerful. If you have one, don't ruin it, don't put in DVD. This is my advice.

PS3 is a good console for the money Hi def games blueray DVDs and decent size hard drive But beware The PS3 isnt compatable with every TV I have a HD LCD Maxim I think Just a cheep name but nevertheless HD Ive had no problems with it untill I played my PS3 on it it plays ok but theres this awfull green flashing on bright colours . Ive heard a few other peole have also experienced ths problem Imean this console 60 gig version was released 6 months after launch date at a heafty £ 425.00 Spo on my experience I think the PS3 is overated and over priced .

I decided to buy this console used as Sony have decided not to make the latest consoles backward capable. Costs of the components and rights i believe have made this so. As i have a few of the old classic games from owning PS1 and PS2 and wanted to keep playing these games on my latest console aswell as the latest titles. The graphics are amazing and need to be played through HDMI lead on HD telly to get the full benefits. It was easy to set up and as easy to connect to the internet. Here you can download free demos of games or even pay for new full games and have them directly downloaded to the hard drive.

The music player has been very helpful as you can store all your music and create playlists very easily and then listen back through the tv. I don't currently own an Ipod so for me this is a very good tool.

The wireless controllers are brilliant and charge up through console so no batteries to buy. I have now invested in a rumble wireless controller from Sony and love having this feature too.

I wanted to purchase a PS3, and decided to take a chance on a second hand 60 GB console for the backward compatability so that I could play PS2 games.
I must say the unit arrived in its original box, was well packed and very clean.

The only downside was that on the hand controller supplied one of the buttons was stuck on which meant that I had to go and buy a new one. (I am trying to sort this with the seller).

I am using this with a HDMI lead plugged into a HD TV. Playing PS3 games the graphics and sound were fantastic. On PS2 games once again graphics and sound were very good. It has played all the PS2 games I have tried with no problems.

CD's sound great and playing DVD's Picture and sound are great.
I can get wonderful pictures from my digital camera by using the SD card slot.

Apart from the controller I am very pleased with my purchase.

I am a dedicated gamer, although I am a huge fan of the PlayStation, I am not biased, I have owned many consoles and tested all the next-gen consoles.

Firstly we'll start off with the main differences between the PS3 & it's main rival, the Xbox 360. Just so you know, I did own an Xbox 360 Premium when it was first released up until about 4 months after purchasing a PS3.

I personally have a 60GB PS3 which unfortunately is no longer for sale. The reason for this is the drive they was using to make the PS3 backwards compatible was costing too much and they had to get rid of this. There are also quite a few other features that aren't on the 40GB version like the card-reader. This does narrow the market to the Xbox 360 widely, especially now Xbox has released the Elite 120GB version of the 360. Out of all the above, I would still be looking at getting a new or pre-owned 60Gb version of the PS3. Just going on features the main reason's being, comparing the price of the 40GB PS3 to 360 Elite;

The 40GB PS3 cost's £43 more than the Xbox Elite. Now the Xbox Elite has got a much much larger hard drive, but it doesn't include a HD-DVD (£110), it doesn't have built in Wi-Fi (£60), you have to buy rechargable battery packs (£30 for two) you have to pay to play online (around £40). All in all to make the top version of the 360 equivalent to the basica PS3 will end costing £197 more! To top it all off the HD-DVD drive is now only £13 as HD-DVD has lost the HD movie battle and it is no longer supported by Xbox!

In regard's to the actual gameplay of the two consoles, graphic's wise there is very little difference but in general everything seem's smoother on the PS3. Admittedly the Xbox still does have more variety of games, but the gap is closing.

The other big downside to the PS3 is the Xbox Live Arcade had an excellent choice of games on there and although the PS3 has full PS1, PS2 & PS3 game downloads, it's still not as good.

All in all, buy a PS3 over an Xbox but regarding the Wii, it's good if you want a 'mess-a-round with your mates console', but doesn't compare to these!

Playstation 3 or Xbox 360

Firstly the Xbox 360 is a cheaper alternative to the ps3 and the graphics of the x box at this time are on a par with the ps3. But the playstation is still relatively new in terms of the game makers and are not using the playstations full potential of its new cell processor yet. as for internet play both consoles offer great on line gaming the Xbox 360 uses x box live and will cost around £40 pounds a year and if you want to go wireless the Xbox 360 can do this also but you will need a wireless adapter costing aprox £60 as for the ps3 its internet connection is free and has built in wifi. Both systems have wireless controllers as for backward compatibility the Xbox 360 only has partial backward compatibility where as the ps3 has full backward compatibility on practically all titles including the ps1 games but this is limited to the 60gb version only the 40gb is not backward compatible and the 80gb has partial compatibility on ps2 games only. the ps3 can also be connected to a psp via its USB interface. Both systems offer a full HD experience but the ps3 also has a blue ray player 2.0 compliant. As for reliability the Xbox 360 unfortunately has at last count a 33% failure rate approximately 1 in 3 but the customer service is reported as good. Where as the ps3 has less than 1% failure rate and I can confirm that the customer service is excellent .Ok so witch one should you buy well to re iterate the Xbox 360 it’s cheaper to buy and is great online and graphically similar to the ps3. As for the ps3 it also is great on line but it’s FREE and it has built in wifi. Graphically the ps3 is similar to the Xbox 360 but only for the moment as the full force of the play stations cell processor is still to be released and not forgetting the fact the ps3 is also a blue ray player. Ok the ps3 is quite expensive compared to the Xbox 360 but if you take inconsideration the fact that a blue ray player will set you back at least £200 pounds the ps3 starts to make sense and if you can get hold of the unfortunately discontinued 60gb version of the ps3 then you get even more bang for your money as it is totally backward compatible. So in my opinion the ps3 is the way to go but only if you will use the great features it has to offer. If you just want a games console to play on with your mates or for the kids bed room the x box 360 is the better choice hope you found my review useful ………. I got the ps3 60GB James (*; *)

Due to a small fault on powering up is why i returned the system, nice lady though..Got it delivered via parcel force but sadly whether it was the couriers did not function ..

The PS3 is the best console on the market by a long way it boasts amazing graphics and seamless gameplay. It is also brilliant for all your movies and internet needs.

A great PS3 hardly any scratches to the case, only what is to be expected in transport. Was backwards compatable which i was hoping. Ive had no problems with it.

the graphics on a full HD tv are superb,no dislikes.I bought this to go with the HD tv we bought instead of a dedicated bluray player
