Sony PlayStation® 2 Console

It's the quality games and excellent joypad that makes PlayStation 2 really good. Fortunately the PS2 has kept the same Joypad (+ all analogue instead of digital buttons!) and updates of our favourite games such as FIFA and Grand Turismo.

Graphically its very much better in every respect to the old one, having 32 Mb of RAM, a 128-bit running at 300 MHz and a 150 MHz Sony graphics chip that can do about 66 million polygon per second.

The PlayStation 2 is NOT as fast as a PC tested against a GeForce 2 Ultra and AMD 1.4 GHz on the first person shooter Red Faction.

Grand Turismo looks and plays even better. The FIFA game too looks good, but again the PC version looks graphically better which brings the PlayStation 2 into perspective. Other footy games include 'This is Football' which is graphically better but Pro Evolution Soccer exceeds in game play. PES4 is the new version coming out and is definitely the leading football game around at the moment - it is certainly my choice to buy.

The PS2 also plays DVD films and is well worth the original £200 asking price if you don't already own a standard DVD player.

For 3 years after its release, it was THE console to buy. But along came Microsoft's first console, the Xbox, which looked like the fastest and best quality console to come out. Then came Nintendo's new console the GameCube which has also changed many people's perspective on what to buy.

A silver version came out earlier in the year, also a new 'slim' PS2 which is 75% smaller (now available in black or silver), will be available before Christmas. The PS3 will be available for purchase around mid to late 2006.

All 3 consoles are very good, but its the quality and range of games available that makes the PlayStation 2 my choice of console. If you love your sports, and are prepared to pay the extra then this console is for you!

this is just what I expected good clesr graphics and easy to use.
Just complex enough for all ages to use even young ones.

I have only been a buer on ebay for two months so I am relativly inexperienced in looking for good bargins, however I must say that this item was one of the best things that i have bought. The playstation 2 is a very good console. It has a massive selection of games for every type of gamer, whther you're a casual gamer or a hardcore gamer.

The controllers aren't as comfortable as the controller for the xbox or the xbox 360 though.

Our ps2 broke and i had already bought my son some games for his birthday. So i decided to bid on this item in good faith that it was as the description said, a ps2 in good working condition. I was very pleased with the delivery and communication, but my son was very dissapointed when he couldn't play his new games for his birthday.

I bought this playstation for my younger chldren, it was the old style playstation, big and chunky and just right for little ones. My older children have the slimline version but the old style in my opinion is more robust and better for younger children to operate. If you are lucky and get a good older machine then you should have no problem playing any games on it and there are some really good educational games for pre school children, my sons favourite is Dora and the Purple Planet, not all games are bad you just need to be careful what you buy.

Our first venture into gaming consols (apart from ds lites). It did not come with any instructions so the first thing we had to do was work out where all the cables went and how to switch it on (switching it off proved to be the problem!). Then we found out we needed a memory card... Once we have got all the extra bits we needed (and bought a few games off ebay!) we were great and my kids both love it.

The Playstation 2 has been a staple of the console market for many years. Now, nearing the end of it's life, it's still a potent console that has a wide selection of games, which is to this day still being expanded.

It may not have the huge online functions of the current generation consoles, and it may not have the most powerful graphics on the market, but the Playstation 2 is extremely cheap, hardy, and accessible. And (most of) the games are goodies and cheapies, too!

A console that still has a place in any console gamers collection (as even the backwards-compatible PS3 doesn't get it right all the time!), and probably will keep that place for many years to come.

My son,s ps2 broke over a year ago and he asked for another for his birthday,I was a little unsure if buying on line was a good solution but found that if you do your homework and really sift through the information given you then you really can get a bargain. What I did,nt like was the way some sellers would almost hide the information of faults,I was overjoyed with my purchase,it was a real bargain but I would warn anyone buying electrical goods on line to be careful to read everything before bidding,not everyone is as nice as the lovely sellers I found.

i decide to buy for my child becouse the play station was with 4cames+memorie+2remote but all games not working and both remote is not working

I have 5 of these ps2's with screens for my girls. Never had any problems with them, No argueing over the tv,s. The only disapointment i have is that the screens are very hard to come by now, So when we had one stolen, was very fortunate to find another weeks later. Tried older version playstation 2 & screen, but found the graphics, size, ect rubbish compared to this.

This is a very good console as there are soo many different games that you can play on there. It has good graphics for its age and good controllers that are comfortable and easy to use unlike some other consoles controllers.
It is a good buy as there is such a wide veriaty of games to choose from and it is simple enough for anyone to use and yet challenging enough for it to not become boring.

good value for money item redily available on ebay loads of cheap games around and still new ones being made hope i will be able to afford ps3 soon

with the prospect of the summer holidays coming and thought of entertaining the children for the whole six weeks we decided that we would buy them a play station. so far it has worked wonders and it has been so peaceful with the exception of a few paddy's when they don't win lol.

Its a Great Kids console with cheap titles at an affordable price, DVD player with easy to use controllers, I would highly recommend the PS2 as a starter console before upgrading to the infamous PS3
