Sony Net MD Walkman MZ-N510 Personal MiniDisc Player

The Minidisc Player/Recorder is convenient, very useful and gives excellent recording and playback. I liked it so much that I bought another for my wife. She, too, likes it very much. I decided to buy it because I had an earlier model that did not play MP3 files.

We bought this Sony MD second-hand but as new and it has exceeded our expectations.
This is a very easy to use MD, the controls are on the MD and the inline digi display, sound quality is as you would expect from a Sony clear and precise.
Down-loading from the net is quick and easy and works well with the higher versions of sonic stage software, this MD can also be connected to other music devices and record from them.
So a excellent MD, easy to use and great to listen to, nothing to dislike.

I really liked this product when I got it but realised that the remote control headset has a faulty connection and cost to much to replace.
I felt dissapointed that I was never informed of this when I was bidding for this,It is a nice product though.

I bought this player because mini disc sound quality is far superior to ipod it was good value for money if slightly difficult to operate a happy customer

I first bought a minidisc player 10 years ago, an mds-jb930,i still have it, minidisc was great then and really speaking is now, the sound quality beats the pants off mp3 and i pod, minidisc makes recordings that are as good as whatever source it gets them from.
I until now had never owned a portable, they were very expensive back in the day, now they are good value on ebay and this one is no exeption, i can play the discs i recorded all those years ago when i threw the casettes in the bin, put a disc in etc and take the dog for a walk,
The mz-n510 can also record from the pc, it sounds great,it misses the odd bell and whistle of the higher end models, but has the advantage of aa battery,mdlp is a good idea doubleing the 80 min disc to 160 min.
Sony sonic stage isent the best recording media on the planet but it gets by and you can select the file and drag and drop, its mainly quite simple.
So all in all if you want a no frills md portable at a good price and some will come with a load of discs, give the mz-n510 a look

EXCELLENT PRODUCT, BETTER IN A SNAZZY COLOR TOO, V GOOD PC SOFTWARE TO DRAG MPS'S TO THE DEVICE AND BACK TO COMPUTER AGAIN THROU USB, THE ONLY DOWNSIDE IS THE SMALL AMOUNT OF SONGS CAN BE PUT ON DISC IN LP2 MODE, BUT I REALLY LIKE IT AND PREFER AT MO TO USING MPS DEVICES, LONG LONG BATT LIFE, BUT BEWARE ONLY OTHER NET MD PLAYERS WILL BE ABLE TO ACTUALLY PLAY THE DISCS BACK AS THE NET-MD SOFTWARE RECORDS WITH AN ENCODEING SOFTWARE IN TUNES, SO I HAD TO GET ANOTHER MZ-N510 JUST INCASE THIS ONE BREAKS AND ALL DISCS WOULD BE USLESS

This is a very good mini disc player from the cheaper end of the market. It has excellent sound quality and the digital recording is near perfect. The only down side is the lack of a microphone socket but over all pretty good.

if i remember correctly good photo,great communicator , when the mini disc player first came out just could not afford one,at that time so i wanted to get one and now thank goodness for the mp3 but alas the great thing bout the mini disc is the amount of music you card copy on disc over an over again love it still too big great for the car.

Sony invented the minidisc recorder system, therefore they only sell top quality units,of which this is one.

Love the minidisc and cd player. the only things I dont like about them are the fact that if you record to minidisc via USB and the computer program, those discs cant play on other minidisc players and the fact that the minidisc player doesnt work using batteries.

The system is fantastic and I can fit all of my favorite tracks on my minidiscs and play them in my car as I have a minidisc player in there too but have to record them by line in.

These things are not much use for listening to music as mp3 players have taken over because they are better for that purpose but where these things excel is in recording important conversations you may want to use at a later date.

They can be used to record things your girlfriend might say or a shop salesman may say. Whatever it might be record it! That is my motto! I record lots of things and it comes in handy later very often. The great thing about mini disc is the quality of the recording. When at a later date you need the recording to prove to some lying slimy toe rag that the denial is useless because you have it recorded they are usually not so much impressed with the quality but shocked that it sounds so perfectly like them and they are saying exactly what they denied they said. The joy you can therefore get from a mini disc player is historic and I recommend you get one and learn how to use it fast and sure. have it ready and practice once you switch it on ask the person if it is ok to record the conversation for training purposes for the record. Most people will not disagree in fact I have never had that happen in 15 years.

The most important thing is to get a very good microphone and not a cheap copy. get a Sony or two as the cheap ones are rubbish. The SONY ECM MS907 Stereo Microphone is fantastic and I have been able to use it with my MD player to record the most incredible noises and conversations.

When I lived in a unit of flats I one demonstrated it to a friend who lived there and when I pointed it at the windows of his flat we could hear his girlfriend inside talking on the phone as clear as day.

So whatever type a MD player is a useful tool for when buying anything from somebody so that you can recall what is said and so that you do not hear things that were not said and so that things are not said and then denied. Same goes for any contract or decision or even the proposal to your woman.record it and if people don't like it then tuff! Work out how to use it and if you cant work it out fast then RTFM.

You need to be careful with then as you would be with a digital camera as they will not work again if dropped. The quality of sound is similar across models but the ease of use varies and whichever one you get may suit you or not but just get used to it and be happy. you can get them at a good price now. around £20 - £30 is a fair price.

I just bought three more on eBay because I broke one and I had one stolen by the police in some third world country along with my Sony phone when my girlfriend told them I had recorded them demanding $300 from us under threat of being charged with "Alarm and scandal" Duh!

So the police in the Philippines now have their most modern piece of equipment and no charger or instructions so they will be unable to use it unless they get a miracle happen or learn to read. Luckily I did manage to get the Mini SD card out of the phone before they stole it.

So if you have $80 to spend on a MD and $150 on a Microphone it is worth it I asure you. and cheaper than it was a few years ago.

love the fact it is a net md and good quality. even on lp4 mode music still good quality.the software is a bit complicated to use but.

I bought this for my son who had recorded a mini disc and wanted to be able to play it for us. I realaise that this is somewhat outdated now but it was exactly what my son wanted. It had loads of different gadgets for connection in car, earphones etc. There were scratches on the mini disc player but these were shown on the photos. We were able to connect to speakers and listen to my sons performance. The sound was really good. The seller also sent him loads of recorded discs that he can record over if he wants. All in all a good buy,

The ideal Walkman for the lover of non-stop music. The sound quality is second to none, it is completely portable, and a battery lasts for ages. I purchased it with the intention of connecting my PC into the analogue input, then putting together a playlist and playing the music back-to-back with no gaps. This Walkman is ideal for this, and because of Long Play mode, you can mix up to 5 hours of non-stop music in superb digital quality.

Cet appareil est assez courant, mais avec beaucoup de qualités, comme la lecture et l'enregistrement en double durée ainsi que la pile interne de type R6.
Il est possible de le brancher sur un PC avec un cordon USB standard à utiliser avec le logiciel sonic stage disponible gratuitement sur le site sony.
A priori il est fiable ( pas de problèmes à ce jour ).
Un regret : le boitier tout plastique qui est sensible à l'usure, à la différence des MD à boitier métal.

En conclusion un bon appareil que je conseille.

I needed the mini disc player to reherse songs for a gig. This is the first time I used one of these and it is very good. It is light therefore easy to carry around. The only thing I dont really like is that there are no speakers or connection to the computer. It would be better if I had these but then again I am sure it would not be too hard to purchase those items. I have also found it hard to find music in mini disc format and wish that it was easier to obtain music in this format. Apart from that it is a great item and does exactly what was described all in all it was a good purchase.

I've had MP3 players before but always had trouble with them, either the screen stop working or I lost the files holding my music, however with this mini disc player I play my music and so far having lost any of the discs and I can delete music of the discs anytime and update with something new.

I bought this partly to be able to record things using a microphone, but it doesn't work. This wasn't mentioned, and neither was the lack of charging ability. I don't know why. This machine can download things from the computer etc, but you can't do it the other way, which was another reason I bought it. Good sound though.
