The reason i personally prefer NetMD over CD is because i make my own music and i can give my friends a copy of my music knowing that NetMD has built in digital copy protection using the supplied software (OpenMG) this is a big plus over CD. The quality of these players also is outstanding, There are so many useful features of the minidisc format including dividing tracks, merging, changing the recording levels, naming, fading, it goes on and on. Minidisc is also great for jingles/talkovers if you have an internet radio station as the seek time is so minimal, and almost every editing feature can be done on the fly. Therefore CD's cannot compete there, once a CD is finalized its done forever and cannot be changed.

I bought this minidisc player to record live gigs easily and cheaply, with the ability to get them in to mp3 format for our own use.
It does all these things with the minimum of fuss and excellent quality.

an excellent gadget that has been left behind in the tide of music walkmans, held back only by sony's neolithic attitude to copying music:/

  Faulty Mini Disc Player
Review created: 10/09/09

I've dabbled with Hi Fi for many years,i suppose it's a hobby.Consequently i have gained a fair bit of knowledge over the years.I have a good size collection of personal Mini Disc Player/Recorders.
I purchased this particular model (well known, and at one time top of the range)
but i have to say i was a little scepticle in so much that certain items, the charger and player cradle were missing. These are standard item requirements for this particular model.
But needless to say i posess these items myself, part of my collection.
Having received the item personly off the postman,i immediately unpacked the player, and inserted a prerecorded disc. The player would switch on,but it would not recognise that there was a disc inserted, cosequently it would not play any disc i offered it.
I immediately repacked the player (within an hour) and returned the mini disc player/recorder via post.
Ebay unfortunately in my opinion, will always attract people who think they can easily part with electrical items,my experience on two or three occassions is that the sellers first sentence (email) is "Oh, was working fine no problems upon despatch".
My record as a buyer only is second to none.
I have to say that the person i swapped email correspondence with on this occassion perhaps needs to re-address the situation with reguard to the selling of electrical items,it can for some people be a bit of a grey area.
Anyway i was eventually reimbersed, and acknowledged the return payment.

Your Co-operatively Sincere

MD Players and their uses. Just get used to operating.
Review created: 28/07/09

These things are not much use for listening to music as mp3 players have taken over because they are better for that purpose but where these things excel is in recording important conversations you may want to use at a later date. They can be used to record things your girlfriend might say or a shop salesman may say. Whatever it might be record it! That is my motto! I record lots of things and it comes in handy later very often. The great thing about mini disc is the quality of the recording. When at a later date you need the recording to prove to some lying slimy toe rag that the denial is useless because you have it recorded they are usually not so much impressed with the quality but shocked that it sounds so perfectly like them and they are saying exactly what they denied they said. The joy you can therefore get from a mini disc player is historic and I recommend you get one and learn how to use it fast and sure. have it ready and practice once you switch it on ask the person if it is ok to record the conversation for training purposes for the record. Most people will not disagree in fact I have never had that happen in 15 years.

The most important thing is to get a very good microphone and not a cheap copy. get a sony or two as the cheap ones are rubbish. The SONY ECM MS907 Stereo Microphone is fantastic and I have been able to use it with my MD player to record the most incredible noises and conversations. When I lived in a unit of flats I one demonstrated it to a friend who lived there and when I pointed it at the windows of his flat we could hear his girlfriend inside talking on the phone as clear as day. So whatever type a MD player is a useful tool for when buying anything from somebody so that you can recall what is said and so that you do not hear things that were not said and so that things are not said and then denied. Same goes for any contract or decision or even the proposal to your woman.record it and if people dont like it then tuff! Work out how to use it and if you cant work it out fastv then RTFM.

  Dreadful

The product was damaged. The battery wouldn't charge, and the crystal display wouldn't work. I was conned by the seller and frightened of getting a bad feedback from him, I could not complain.
Someone should do something about this system.
I'm very suspicious of people on this e-bay think from now on.

  Sony MD recorder

Bought this item as a better quality spare to replace an older lower-spec model which was used as a spare. Much better than the item it replaced. And no major problems so far. Please see the review of the MZ N10 MD player I bought as the day-to-day machine for a more in-depth look. Much of that review sums up this machine as well as the two are very similar. In fact this item was the N10's predecessor.
