Mini Disc for me was the best format for music. It was compact, scratch proof and recordable. Unfortunately Mini Discs are near on extinct but thanks to ebay those small little fellas can still be found.
The Sony MDS-JE480 MD player is an excelent machine to play them on. You can play and record and also rig up your CD or MP3 player to it. It provides excellent quality of music, optical and analogue output and the looks of a top quality HI-FI seperate as a retro man like my man would say.
There are features like TEXT, ATRAC and AMS and all the other things you would find on a top quality CD player but with the ability to record.
+the item & delivery was A1.***** THANK A LOT.THE ITEM ALONE WAS WORTH THE PRICE WITHOUT THE DISCS SENT WITH IT THANKS A LOTXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
The Sony Minidisc system is, in my opinion the best consumer digital recording system around. The sheer versatility and reliability of these machines makes it just about perfect for home stereo recording.
Unless you have the most expensive of home Hi-Fi amplification and extremely sensitive ears you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the sound of a CD, and a minidisc recording of that same CD. Sony's ATRAC compression system is, in my opinion far superior to MP3 compression. The only drawback is that recordings have to be made in real time.
The MDS-JE480 is just one of many similarly featured models that are intended to be used as Hi-Fi separates. This particular model is also capable of MD Long-Play, which almost doubles the amount of material you can get onto one Mini Disc. Blank Mini Discs are still readily available and are very inexpensive.
The whole system is light-years ahead of the old analogue Compact Cassette tape System for making your own recordings. The main advantages being: Virtually instant access to any track/recording (as with CD's) during playback; tracks can be edited in many different ways after recording; tracks can be repositioned so that you choose the order of playback; The Discs themselves are very durable (more so than CD's or tapes) and, of course, the sound quality is excellent!
Although this is my third Minidisc deck, the other two still work perfectly after (in the case of one of them) eight years' use and abuse! I just wanted this machine as a backup and because the other two are models that don't have the Long Play feature.
I use a minidisc player to play backing tracks when entertaining and bought this one for a spare It,s in perfect condition and i,m more than plesed with it
The MDS JE480 has LONG PLAY which is a must, not all do, its easy to operate, has nice playback, easy set up. Larger than some MD players and takes up a bit of space but worth it, looks the business. It has SMART SPACE capability which helps if your recording, if there's gaps in the music etc of 30 seconds or more it automatically replaces the gap with just 3 seconds saving space on the disc. Easy erase and data functions. Fade in/out capability and synchronise with ease too. A nice little toy.
I LIKE THE ITEM AS I HAVE USED ONE LIKE THIS BEFORE. I USE IT FOR PLAYING BACKING TRACKS IN MY TWO-PIECE GROUP AND FIND IT VERY RELIABLE. THE PREVIOUS ONE I HAD WAS GOING OK UNTIL UNFORTUNATELY IT GOT DROPPED ON ITS FACE AND CAUSED QUITE A BIT OF DAMAGE TO THE UNIT. SO IT IS UTMOST IMPORTANT TO TAKE CARE OF THE PLAYER AS IT SEEMS TO BE EASILY BROKEN IF IT FALLS. TO FINISH I WOULD GIVE THE PRODUCT 10/10 AND OF COURSE SONY PRODUCTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES.
I decided to by it because i have a big collection on Mini discs and as I didn't had a player for the last 5 years, i missed listen to the music. The performance of the player is very good , i love the style it looks very slick and nice.
The mini disk player turned up very quickly and was as described. Its in great condition and i am very pleased with it. Absolute top ebaying A++++++++++++++
