very solid piece of equipment for the money

I found the MDS-JE330 to be a perfectly good and solid piece of equipment. It produces good quality recordings with ease, and all the basic functions are very straightforward and easy to operate. Admittedly entering track names and track divisions is time consuming since you are entering them character-by-character with the remote, but generally I was happy to leave my tracks unlabelled so this is not really an issue. The only real features this model lacks are a headphone socket and a digital output, but assuming you are using this in a hifi-seperates setup you should have a headphone socket in the amplifier, and as for the digital out, this is only really useful if you are looking to make perfect copies of existing minidiscs, and transfer data without loss of quality to another source, for the average user this will be unnecessary, but if you are looking to use a MiniDisc player as a cheap alternative to a DAT recorder in a home recording studio, you might want to look at the more expensive models which will have this feature. What the MDS-JE330 excels in is producing great recordings quickly and easily in the model under which a cassette deck might have been used in the past, but with much higher quality results at a price which won't break the bank!
