Beware! Fake sony headphones are being sold by various sellers on e-bay.They have inferior sound drivers, the audio plug has black rings and should be green.
the marking L for left headphone is upside down & the silver sony on the cups is dull and should be very shiny.

They look very similar, but are crap comparted to the real thing.I used my fake pair to repair my broken 10 year old mc coy MDR-V700DJ headphones with the head band using the proper sound drivers.

Beware these people are making vast profits out of you and you are getting less than what you are paying for !

Sony MDR V700 vs Z700 lot's of fake on Ebay!!

The V700 is a nice headphone. Feels great around the ears, and closes off pretty good. Sound of the V 700 is pretty good.
The build quality unfortunatly is not.
The headphone tends to break pretty easily and won't last more then 2 years max if you're extremly careful with them.

If you wanna buy one beware: the V 700 has a great sound, the Z 700 NOT!
the z 700 is build for the Asian market and is a cheaper headphone in both build quality as sound.

Also beware here on Ebay: there a lot of counterfeit ones sold here. I once bought a counterfeit V700/ V700 here on Ebay. I had a hard time getting my money back and ended up with negative feedback and loss of money. Ebay did nothing!

If you're really going for this headphone, please beware and don't make my mistakes again. I bought mine at Ebay Uk, seller: Akumabox.

Mine was definitely fake and for what I saw there were more buyers who recieved a fake item.
His feedback score is pretty good as he "sells" free recipes too to get an higher feedback score. :D

My advise: leave the Sony and go for a Technics HP.

  V700 in preference to Z700
Review created: 05/09/07

I originally bought a pair of Z700s from ebay after being told there is no difference - oh dear. From the outside, the V and Z range look identical, even down to the same problem with the swivel fixing (it tends to break easily, a common V700 fault I hear).
But put them on, play some music through them, and WOW! what a difference! The Z700 range are designed for the Japanese import market and use cheaper drivers, and in back to back testing it's clear - the Zs are tinny. The V700s offer a much fuller range, good, tight, deep bass response (i listen to Drum & Bass so that is absolutely necessary), and generally a great quality sound for the price.

In use, they are comfortable and adjustable, suitable for long term listening, go NICE AND LOUD - a quoted output power of 3000mw, or 3W, per driver - and fold up for portability and come with a simple little vinyl drawstring bag.

Overall, excellent quality for the price, avoid the Z700's like the plague unless you like tinny bass response.

  5- Year usage report
Review created: 28/08/07
4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I purchased my new SONY MDR-V700's in September 2002, and after five years, I am now looking for a new pair. The reason these have to be replaced is that the swivel mechanisms have split and have to be held together with sellotape!

Apart from that, there is only mild signs of age apparent; the drivers still perform faultlessly, and only a few cracks in the plastic and foam here and there indicate the age.

LIKES:

Faultless sound, very comfortable, five years of usage including travelling and occasionally being dropped (and physically thrown in frustration a few times!), nice long lead that doesn't tangle easily, good material construction throughout. These 'phones can handle lots of volume. Levels of distrotion are very good, even for large (50mm) drivers. Lovely taught bass, clear upper frequencies.

DISLIKES:

Nothing much. Only suggestion to Sony is that they try to make the swivel mechanisms more durable, but that would probably mean titanium or aluminium bevels which would necessitate a redesign of the driver units. They would also probably be quite heavy too.

OVERALL:

Excellent, target sellers that offer them for about £60 or under, or barely used for under £40. Just don't try to mix after after a few too many voddies and throw them across the room in frustration!!!

((NOTE: This review is in no way associated with the MDR-Z700 series. According to the sellers out there, there isn't much of a difference, but I have had no experience with this variation.))

Amazing Quality Headphones Solid and Bass galore

If you DJ at home or do anything that involves headphone use you should be looking at getting these. They give an amazing sound which is rich, clear and basey. The full size ear cups enclose your ears comfortably and block out surround disturbance. The ear cups can rotate one way so you can just hold one ear cup up to your ear to listen quickly and still have yr other ear free to listen to the surrounding music. The cord is coiled and stretches to nearly 3metres which is more than enough but when working at a mixer stays coiled as to not get in the way. It comes with a 3.5mm jack with a screw fitting 6.5mm jack adapter so perfect for any mixing equipment. Look out for the fakes and buy original - you dont want to get ripped off. The included carry pouch is nice and helps keep them clean if you have to transport them. I will be recomending these to anyone I know who doesnt already have them!

Superior Grade Headphones - Fantastic Value

VALUE FOR MONEY
---------------

These headphones retail at £72.79 on the very competitive DABS website.
You can get these sets on eBay from less than £30 If you search however
PLEASE BE WARY OF FAKES alot of eBayers seem to have lucked out trying to get these. The genuine sets have gold plated jacks which adjust to fit both standard plug sizes.

I acquired mine from china and buy most of my electronic consumables from there. I have never had any issues just great deals and happy smiles. :)

As always I find them cheaper with lower standard packaging but if it saves money and material waste then thats even better.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
----------------

The Sony MDR-V700DJ studio monitor and DJ headphones feature swivel ear cups for DJ and remix applications.

The ear cups are reversible for added flexibility, and the swivel mechanism has auto return.

The supra-aural design brings excellent listening comfort, 50 mm diameter driver ensures high fidelity sound.

It has a wide molded headband for long lasting comfort and is folding for adjustments.

  Beware of fakes
Review created: 07/02/08

Although it says it's Sony - it isn't necessarily!!!I bought MDR-V700 headphones in good faith but the product I was sent was clearly fake. Documentation is a giveaway as is the overall quality of the product - but of course you only find out when it's too late. Buy from a reputable dealer or be prepared to find yourself with inferior quality products.

Sony MDR-V700DJ Top sound and good price!
Review created: 05/02/08

2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Well anyone who mixes knows that they need a good pair of headphones. I just purchased a pair of Sony MDR-V700DJ direct from China. I was a little worried would I get them would they be cheap knockoffs but NO! They are the REAL DEAL.
The tech specs sound good but come on real people haven't a clue what this all means..
Automatic position recover swivel mechanism for easy monitoring when headphones are worn on shoulder
Reversible ear cups for easy single-sided DJ monitoring
50 mm driver unit for high-quality sound
Resists high power input up to 3,000 mW
Neodymium magnet for powerful bass and clear treble sound
Newly designed screw-type gold-plated stereo UniMatch plug with a secure connection, for use with various types of audio equipment
Compact folding design for easy carrying and storage
Gold-plated plugs to provide reliable transmission of audio signals
LC-OFC litz wire for better conductivity
Coiled lead for convenience

No we want to know the real easy bits in English please?
These headphones rock clear loud bass but be careful if you turn it up to loud the power of the earpiece speakers will rip your eardrums out and make your nose bleed!! You have been warned!
The top end of the sound range is crisp whilst keeping a nice clean and soft mid tone. This makes a really enjoyable sound all round and with the great clarity and loudness they are great dj monitoring headphones as well.
For the dj they are foldable so can easily be placed in a record bag or flight case.
The headphone cups twist to aid monitoring or just so you can chat whilst listening.
One nice little feature is the screw on gold plated quarter inch adaptor no accidental slip outs here.
The cord is heavy and solid all in all a good solid piece of kit. One slight downside I have read about is that the springs in the ear cups breaks after a serious bit of use but all in all a five star product and recommended. Direct in the UK they cost £70 but here on eBay I picked them up direct from China for £25 delivered what a bargain thanks hope this helps Loz

Cheap Sony Phoney But the bizz for me!!
Review created: 03/10/07
2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

OK the Z700. Well i personally like these phones, i have a small head and find these are light and stay on when mixing with my head down, (unlike heavier phones that tend to slide off. As for the sound Well i like the clarity I find them bright not tinny in fact when used on my denim amp on my hi fi they sound superb bright and clear and with deeep bass and sub is also in there with a vengeance but through the denim mixer they sound just bright and loud just how i like them for mixing because i like to feel the bass to mix best not hear a muddy mash in the phones. For the money they are great no probs with my swivels they seem very strong, they are very comfy and light another plus for me anyway. I'm well pleased for the money, but if i had money to chuck at headphones my Sennheizers can't be beaton if anyone owns these monster £300.00 cans then you know what i mean.

  Sony MDR-V700 Professional Headphones
Review created: 15/07/08
by:
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

I had been using the Sony MDR-V500 for the best part of 18 month's untill the neck on the hanger just simply snapped, after reading some forum's on the V500's it seem's that this is a regular occurance with Sony's DJ Style Headphones.butanyway,I was very satisfied with their sound reproduction so decided to upgrade to the Sony MDR-V700,these must surely be even better I thought.First thing,I liked the appearance of the MDR-V700 and they sit on the head very comfortably but the material used to make these cans feel's like cheap plastic, besides this the bass you get from these is nice and solid but I found they where lacking in the middles and high's when compared to the bass. This said,I found the reproduction of music through the MDR-V700 to be very unnatural, what you feed into these headphones is not what you get out of these headphone's if you know what i mean.Sony seem's to have added some kind of stereo widening effect to the reproduction of the sound being processed. For instance no sound is dead center, not even a mono signal, the Sony MDR-V700 just simply refuses to have this,I also found that when I panned a signal full left it could still be heard (though alot lower)coming through the right ear.All in all,the Sony MDR-V700 are fine for simple everyday listening, but for those who want to hear their music like how it is supposed to sound,or for any music producer, keep a wide birth, you cannot mix on these period.

  Fake headphones, made poorly

After compairing these to a shop bought pair, they are clearly an inferior 'fake' version, with poor sound quality, and a cheap plastic finish instead of rubber. you get what you pay for i guess!

  Being ripped off

Hi Won item for 1.99 + shipping costs 11.00 ( cost less but hey someones go to make a profit) paid by paypal.
2 days later notified by seller product detained by customs, therefore refunded money . ( great what a guy)
I then looked on ebay a few days later and what do do find but seller is selling the above at 8.99 buy now with shipping costs at 14.00.
I have contaced seller on a number of occassions and offered to pay the price agreed.
the conversatios go along the lines of I'm a good man and he is only trying to do business to the last one Im a dispicable chap and I threaten people
All that I've asked for is the product that I agreed to to buy, and for him as a seller to honour that bid.

the product itself is one of the best available, but I would be very careful from where its bought from.

I have kept emails from seller if anyone is interested

Review created: 08/06/09

I bought these headphones because they had a good reputation. And I think personally they are very good. They have a fab sound & are loud without being nasty & brittle , like other headphones I have used & tried. So Yea !!! I like them very much. Although I do believe there are copies of this particular model of headphone out there at a cheaper price, that are seemingly not quite so good.

If You are a DJ and looking for a decent headphones this is very good choice. good quality of sound and great price.
But if You're a producer looking for a headphones to Your studio don't take these. They are too bassy and don't have enough middle tones. Go for something else.

Cheers and happy mixing

i brought these headphones for my husband who is a d.j, these headphones retail at £80.00 in the shops and i found them from this seller for less money. the headphones are very good indeed, the sound quality is very crisp, they are very comforatable to use, not like normal ones that fall of your head. there is a screw on adaptor for different connections. very good value for money. they are very stylish and they come with a protective bag to stop them getting damaged when they are not in use.
