Sony Ericsson W960i Walkman™

This is a very good and brilliant phone because of its great degsin and its quality and connectivity when it comes to ringing people, texting people or even when it comes to bluetooth.
This phone is a music walkman it can contain a wide range of memory cards including 8 gb. And just below the large, clear screen is three easy to use tough screen buttons to controll your music.
And the packaging contains imformation and clear sounding speaker phones. Built in with a 3.2 megapixel camera 3d java gaming systems a vibration alert this phone is the best walkman from sony ericsson yet!

I've had this for a month now - it's a very good phone.

i'm not a fan of mobile phones - by necessity i've had one since 1990, so i've had a few - all of them have pissed me off to some degree or other, (apart from the nokia 6310), but this is the best phone i've ever had.

it was vodaphone locked - i had it unlocked and use it on orange.

i've used most of the features - they all seem to work and work well, even the handwriting recognition.

wifi and bluetooth conectivity is excellent, i've also used the m-router usb conection as a 3g modem - v good.

it's taken me a while but i've also managed to sync this with my microsoft exchange server work e-mail account. e-mail and diary, sync's very well indeed - more preferable than a blackberry. - the sound quality is much better.

the external speaker is much better than most and the radio reception is excellent apart from the AF feature which is a bt crackly.

the camera is good quality - i'd hoped for a 5mb - but the 3.2 is pretty good.

with all these features the battery can get eaten up pretty fast but you just need to remeber to turn off the fatures you're not using.

the overall build quality is very good, and although the phone is a bit bigger than many of the more recent offerings, it feels like a quality product.

the touch screen took a little getting used to but i'd miss it now. - i've taken the precaution of getting a screen protector.

that's about it. - excellent phone - i hope it's as robust as it appears.

Please, don't buy this phone. It's really not worth the hassle it will no doubt give you. The software is notoriously slow, the battery life is dismal and the user interface is absolutely atrocious. For some reason this phone has a jog dial, stylus and buttons for navigating through menus. Now, that's about two methods too many and makes things unnecessarily complicated - if they had just made the jog dial the only way to navigate through menus, this phone would be a lot easier to use, or so you'd think. The software isn't intuitive at all, it's perplexingly long winded and to do simple things like, I don't know, MAKE A PHONE CALL, requires laboriously navigating into the menus to find the contacts application - which won't respond 40% of the time while using the touch screen. One last gripe before I throw mine back on eBay, is that once you load up an application, for example a game and then quit to make a call, the game will still be active despite the fact that I quit it, in fact - ANY and ALL applications remain open even if you close them. You have to manually go into task manager to individually close applications that you don't want open. If you don't close them the phone gets even slower and eventually becomes unresponsive. If Sony Ericsson had just improved the software this phone would be a real treat, 8GB of internal memory is what drew me to this phone, and what kept me using it for the five days that I used it.

I'm decide to buy W960 cause maybe three months before i saw it first time but the price in the shop was very high,later many times i checked ebay amazon etc.when i sold my first sony phone and when i get the chance in bidding on ebay i bought it without doubt.

Just purchased the Sony Ericsson W960i Walkman. It's the best mobile I've bought yet. Touch screen technology makes handling easier than pressing the key pad all the time. It's just fab :)

After two months of ownership I cannot recommend the W960i.

The W960i looks good and is bursting with top specification features and capability. Now all things being equal this would make it an absolute winner but all things are not equal. The W960i is badly let down by a dreadful user interface. Something browsing the specifiaction list will not prepare you for.

The user interface is inconsistant, unintuitive and inefficient. Issues with firmware/interface have been a problem with some SE phones for a while now and the W960i is not the one that turns that around.

Inconsistancy of input is perhaps my biggest gripe with the W960i. You find you are constantly having to swap around between, key pad, jog wheel and touch screen when operating and carrying out even the simplest functions, making it irritating, slow and fiddley to use.

Due to the ridiculously small icons the touch screen is near impossible to reliabley operate with your fingers, which forces you to pull out the stylus in yet more swapping around and fiddling with the input method. In fact to me the touch screen adds nothing to the overall experience of using a W960i. A gimmick it could well do without.

Due to the lack of a D pad there is no intuitive way to make a horizontal scroll or selection, even though the user interface presents them to you, such as selecting beween the phone or media memory in the picture gallery. This is just sloppy and yet again forces you to alternate between forms of input, jog wheel and touch screen in this case. The software writers should have made the cursor default to the tabs first then move onto the menu. That way you could make all selections in one intuitive and efficient move with the jog wheel.

Entry and editing of text while writing a text message is another area in need of significant improvement. The number of text messages I send has actually dropped since I got the W960i, so poor in comparison to my previous Nokia is text handling.

This W960i is littered with this thing.

I am tremendously disappointed with the W960i, it does not live up to the promise hinted at by the extensive and potent specification and it is all down to the user interface software. Perhaps SE will release a major firmware update that adresses the usuability issues (they really need to) but I'm not holding my breath.

This is a great phone I have had a P990i in the past and I find the menu's easyer to use and it has great styling. The 8GB memory can store a lot of music videos and games. And the touch screen is great with a 3.2 meg camera and a full web browser with wifi it has everything you could want from a phone.

the phone is ok except it lags due to its huge memeory and reletively low ram and processing power . its touch screen doesnt respond as fast as iphone and you have to wait near 1-2 second to get any response and i find that very annoying

The phone was perfect for a short while but then stopped working and unfortunately as the seller cannot produce the original receipt it cannot be sent back and fixed. So is now useless!

i bought this phone because i heard it was really good but it turned out to be slow. now very user friendly and to be honest i just never liked it.

Having a busy schedual I need an organiser in my phone. I prefer Sony Ericsson and I have previously owned the P910i and the P990i, both these phones had everything and more but were very big and bulky. The W960 does everything these other phones do with a whapping 8gb memory (unfortunatly not expandable). I had to get used to locking it tho, the other phones were flip phones and locked as soon as it was closed, but I certainly have no regrets and absolutly nothing bad to say about this phone. I was so happy with it that I went out and got another one for my partner.

I like this phone, big screen, vast memory, little on the bulky side though. Differs in operation to previous Sony phones, touch screen and the pages are laid out differently. Takes a little getting used to but it all works well.
Main selling point for me was the WLAN capability which, to be honest is a little dissapointing, the browser takes a long time to update pages and navigating around the screen can be a little frustrating. Fine for the occasional user but is no PDA. Stylus is easy to use for longer texts but the touch screen can be a little hit or miss with stubby fingers, especially evident when constructing SMS. The predictive word function is good on SMS but again my fingers proved a little hit or miss for this function.
So a really decent phone, well constructed easy on the eye and seems to be reasonable at both playing music and some sort of smart phone, although not being brilliant at either. Could easily afford to lose some memory and a memory card would have been useful.

the phone is not easy to control, the button is not respone too well, is confusing,
compare to the w950i, the w950i is much friendly to use.
but the sound quality is far better than the w950i.

This phone was for my brother... he was veru happy to get it. He likes everything on it! And music sound and interface and touch screen.
