Sony Ericsson W-950i

It looks and feels great, just the right size; the touch screen works perfectly and is very large; music and sound quality is excellent; transfers music from pc fast; 4Gb memory.
On the minus side: Occasionally crashes on heavy use; the programs don't automatically close which causes the phone to get more sluggish when many programmes are still running in the background; the onscreen keyboard is very small and it's easy to press wrong key.
I don't miss the camera at all as the quality on the best phones is very poor. This phone does exactly what it says on the tin.

A Very Good Mobile....

i like the touch screen capability and i really like the way it is all set out, the one thing that i would have to say is that the key pad is a little bit small but i am getting used to it now

very good phone.. very easy to use...massive mermory which u store lots of music and movies in mp4 format.. bad paoints is only it does have camera...it will gr8 if it has alteast 2mp camera in it...

Great phone. After debranding and updating soft no problems with anything (no problems before anyway :) tomtom works great, and 4gb for music is more then i need. I was looking for phone, navigation and mp3 player all in one and i found it. Cant see anything better for now.

This walkman phone was brought for a birthday gift for my daughter .
on inspection and comparison I truely felt a quaulity phone with so much to offer the user in so many fields was easy to use very uncomplicated and well worth the hassel from the seller /paypal

with out the mem card the phone is still useable to a good standard with a mem card it out performs a lot of its competion
I give a 4 star rating to the quality's and functions just a little bulky for my taste but above all daughter was delighted top notch Sony

The reception and transmission of the phone is good. but lacks in many aspects.
The keypad is not very user friendly, it doesn't play all the formats of the music files, Also you have to arrange all the music files in a playlist which is time consuming.also no camera. and soem other bits.. Not impressed.complete waste of money... :)

The Sony Ericsson w950i is extremely user friendly, it's software is bug free and like the phone itself easy to use. It's presentation is smart and sleek. The walkman sounds fantastic, and it is reassuring to know there is 4Gb available for storage.
Although the phone has no camera it can store pictures in customised folders, these can be easily accessed,as you would expect them to be.

With most phones i've owned in the past they've just been phones and have served me well but the w950i has so many features. It has access to the internet, a very smart interface and is such a pleasure to use its the best phone i've owned to date.

THIS PHONE IS ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT IF YOU ARE A MUSIC LOVER LIKE MYSELF AND WOULD LIKE TO HAVE MANY SONGS LOADED ON TO YOUR PHONE, BUT MOST PHONES SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT MEMORY. THIS PHONE IS PERFECT FOR YOU IF YOU DO NOT REQUIRE A CAMERA ON YOUR PHONE, AS THE PHONE SIMPLY DOES NOT HAVE A CAMERA (BECAUSE THE FOCAL POINT OF THE PHONE IS ITS WALKMAN FACILITY). THE 4GB IS HUGE AND CAN SAVE OVER 1000 SONGS. THE PHONE LOOKS INCREDIBLY SLEEK AND IT EXTREMELY SOUGHT AFTER DUE TO THIS AND ITS HUGE MP3 CAPABILITY. OVERALL I WOULD RECOMEND THIS PHONE FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES AS IT IS TRULY A HIGH QUALITY PHONE AND EVERYONE SHOULD OWN ONE...

good quality phone and very durable(built to last)
the phone offers lots of memory for songs or video's. the touch screen makes it easy to text and browse the net. the only downside to the phone is that it does not run on windows mobile (it also does not have a camera, although a camera is not essential it would be nice to have that option)
however with the purchase of an external gps reciever you can use tomtom on the phone.

Having owned this phone now for a month, I now know the good, bad and the downright ugly features of this phone.

Firstly;
The Good:
Although this has 4MB, which is half that of the leading phones, I have managed to add 780 songs, some of which are high quality (320 bitrate).
Once you learn the quirks of thw walkman, it is very straight forward, with lots of options.

I use the phone more for texting, using the handwriting recognition, which is very good, for numbers you need to use the key pad or virtual keyboard via the screen.

The bad;
Although the write-up state 7.5 hours talktime, I find this only a couple of hours if using the walkman feature.
The keys are completely flush, with only a small bump to indicate where the button is. I constantly press 2 keys at once, so I only use the screen and stylus for text and numbers.

Overall;
I do like this phone. It looks stylish as it is a little larger than most phones, but it makes up for it with the walkman feature and the gimmicky touch screen and stylus pen.
Also due to the play button on the side of the phone, you do often find it playing in your pocket (Even when locked).

If you want to use for music, I would recommend come kind of external speakers, etc as the ones on the phone are good, but they are not for quality loud music.

First of all, this device is perfect for email and web browsing. It does not have Wi-Fi received but you can use GRPS or even 3G and have a normal internet connection. I was surprised of its internet browser. You can choose options: "full screen" and "landscape" in order to see internet sites in their normal size. It is as good as using your laptop or PC. Email program is also very good but however I was unable to connect to my email via SSL. Normal usual email will definitely work.
Secondly, W950i is Symbian device. UIQ v3 platform lets you to install variaty of applications. For example you can install TomTom navigator, buy GPS bluetooth receiver (~£20 off eBay) and have full navigation system. Screen size and functionality is practicaly the same as particular GPS device TomTom ONE.
What to add, this device is Walkman what means you will have a very good music player in your pocket as well.
In addition, I was surprised of video playing. Since it is UIQ device you can install DivX mobile player on it and watch long/big videos without converting to 3gp format. Just connect your device to PC, transfer AVI file to it and thats it.
On the other hand, since we are working with mobile phones for many years, we have some bad practice with W950i device. I heard that first 100-200 produced by SE were defective and I was able to touch on of them. It is restarting every 2-3 hours, freezing while you are having a conversation and you are unable even to turn it out without taking the battery out. Actually, some of these phones do that even if they are not defective but you can upgrade its software via SUE and it should help.

That about sums it up, with a memory similar to a nano ipod with a much better screen and at a similar price on PAYG. Rated it as 'good' mainly due to the lack of a camera, but thats going to be what the new w960i will have. Must admit found it annoying at first having to bluetooth more stuff than usual due to having no immediate camera files, but thats only half an hour of my life gone, so hey?
Gorgeous (touch) screen which is far superior to any other brands ive used lately, with a discreet stylus if you want to get a bit faster at texting when you use the on-screen keyboard.
In all the phones ive owned, I stick with Sony time and again, and if I didnt already have a good mp3 player, this would definately double up as what its designed to do, just lacking a camera, which some can easily do without, but not me. Others argue about having a camera for that purpose, but phone cameras are not that(yet?)and only for decent snapshots you dispose of most of the time?
In conclusion, not for me (but could be) at the moment, but a worthy 'smartphone' with a vast amount of internal memory and means to carry most or all of your current music or downloads with you, so would heartily recommend as an alternative to the bigger and chunkier 'p' series, cheers

What I do is iswap the batteries of my W950i with my fully charged W960i phone to be able to recharged it. I suggest next time try to add it along with the description. To be fair with the seller, He might have forgot to put it, but its fine, its just I have to put something in this review. The seller is so kind anyway.

Having bought a M600i with Qwerty keypad decided to swap for W950i I liked the size (not too small & fiddly) comfortable in hand. Excellent touch screen (which does away with the need for a Qwerty keypad)The easy to use handwriting recognition allows you to fast write text messages. It also remembers recently used words & phrases combined with a good spell check.
Only lacking camera & WiFi which would make this a perfect phone& MP3 companion
It is restricted to a 4GB hard Drive - so no expansion (then neither does an ipod Nano)& to get the best out of your MP3's you need to convert to sony's ACC track pretty straight forward

I LOVE THIS PRODUCT, BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THAT IT'S VERY CHEAP ON EBAY BY ONE OF THE SELLERS.
