Sony DSCS730 Digital Camera

This is a superb light weight and compact camera with a hugh list of capabilities. Its from a long pedigree of excellent electronic producers and certainly commands a hugh following.
The body of the camera is constructed with light metal but feels substantial in your hand. The lens self-erects on switching on and retracts vice versa. The view finder is a little bigger than the usual 2 inch screen from earlier model. The controls are laid out fairly intuitively and you could use this camera after 2 minutes to get the basic functions sorted. I often set it on "p" and let the computer takes over to shoot under almost all conditions. The product pictures are reassuringly pin sharp and with high definition (upto 7.9 megapixel, this is quite breath taking).
Focussing is a little too slow but you learn to steady your hands when and after you squeeze the shutter. This is not a problem in itself. But may be problematic if you love a lot of flash photography. The 2 AA batteries last fairly well even under the more demanding conditions (multiple flashes) and you will hardly find to the need to replace them if non-flash modes are chosen. The memory card slot is a little too close to the battery compartment, so ensure you don't dislodge one when attending to the other. Overall, you have excellent performance at around £50.00 (target price) At 9cm x 6cm you could leave it in your pocket or glove box in readiness for those unusual scenes. Overall a 95% product whcih has excellent value for you money.
