Sony DAV-SB 100

The Sony DAV-SB100 is without any doubt the most affordable Sony Home Theatre System on the market. This product would be totally ideal for anyone, who as yet hasn’t turned to the theatre systems and wants to, without splashing too much cash. It would also be ideal for all students at college and university.
The DAV-SB100 contains five satellite speakers and one passive sub-woofer. WEGA theatre brings together the complete range of Sony AV products to create the ultimate in home cinema experience.
The five satellite speakers are at 50 watts each and the passive sub-woofer at 80w giving a mind-blowing massive 330 total output!, even your neighbours will be able to listen to the film, and that’s without you turning to full volume!
Of course with Sony, due to Columbia Tristar, the system cannot be hacked like other makes, however it can either be chipped or you can place a cd-rom in to it which will allow you to play R1 discs etc.
The biggest plus with the DAV-SB100 is that it has a built in decoder, allowing you to listen to your DVDs in the manner in which they were made, this being in Dolby Digital 5.1 or DTS (Digital Theatre Sound) 5.1., out of the two, DTS is far more advanced than DD, resulting in far more clarity to certain aspects of the film.
However due to the amount of subtitles on the vast majority of R2 discs, DTS you will find is much rarer than DD. Even still you will notice a huge difference to the quality of the DVD whilst watching through this system rather than an every day DVD player.
It gives a feel for the film more, and at times you think your actually in it, try out ‘The Gladiator’ in DTS mode, especially the opening sequence, also, in DD try ‘Saving Private Ryan’, again the opening sequence where they land in France, I wouldn’t be surprised if your end up ducking behind the sofa!
The Sony DAV-SB100 isn’t just a DVD player, it will also play a huge range of other items, such as;
DVD-R, DVD-RW (Video Mode), CD, CD-R, CD-RW, VIDEO-CD, MP3 & J-PEG Playback.
It also has the following;
S-Master Full Digital Amplifier
Dolby Digital/DTS/Dolby Pro-Logic II Decoders
Digital Cinema Sound
RDS Tuner
Scart RGB
Not only that, it’s extremely stylish, (comes in Silver) and will look good with any other system. Most importantly it won’t dent your wallet!
*PLEASE NOTE* That like the Sony DAV150, this product, is actually made by LG for Sony under the Sony Trademark.
