SONY DAVS880 HOME CINEMA

Superb home cinema kit.
I bought mine about 4 years ago, at the time the retail price was about £800.
Sony home cinema kits have since dropped considerably in price - but they are no longer built to the same standard.
This system is superbly built with plenty of aluminium and chrome trim, unlike the modern paint and plastic of todays modern systems.
It is a dvd player, cd player, super audio cd (SACD) player, and fm radio - on the back of the head unit you will find a multitude of audio and video inputs - so you can use the onboard amplifier to drive sound from your tv, sky, ps2, video, etc etc. Unlike the modern systems of today that tend to have just one audio input if you are lucky.
The only downside i have come across, compared to some of todays models, is that it wil not play divx - but that is not really an issue to me, as i have connected my pc directly to my TV.
The only fault i have heard about on some of these machines is that the laser in the dvd can stop working - so double check this is working fully before buying. However, even if this is the case - you can still use it as an amplifier and surround sound - you would just need to connect a separate dvd player. Make sure you buy the complete system, including all five speakers, the subwoofer and the remote control. Spares are still available direct from sony - but as with most sony spares, they will have a hefty price ticket.
All in all this is a great quality system, and well worth buying.
I would definately not swap mine for one of the newer cheaper models.
