Sony DAV-S550 Theater System

I have two of these units - which speaks for itself. They are getting a bit dated now but still do the job and look modern and fresh even today. The quality can be felt and seen. Easy colour coded set up for the speakers. plenty of adjustment to get the sound just right. Beware though of those who say this system cost £500 plus when new and that they bought itm only 3 hyears ago. I bought my first one brand new for £249.99 from Amason about 5 years ago and Sony stopped making these units about 4.5 years ago. You can still get spares like new laser units etc. They come with a region code. This can be over come with a special remote control for about £30 but to be honest I don't think it is worth it.

Both my unit have been totally reliable and kid proof enough said. You can probably get something which is a good (sound wise - but not looks) today for about £200 to £250 brand new with a warrenty so bare that in mind when looking on the second hand market. Like all dvds they do not like smoke they also don't like their speaker cables being shortened. The cable come with special units built into them so do not buy if the original cables are missing. Dont mix and match davs 550 and 880 speakers especially the sub woofer.

best thing i have bought wish i`d have gotten it earlyer there is every connection you need apart from scart i have connected to a games console and it makes the games sound amazining also looks nice not like the cheap ones the bass is very good and sounds are crip and clear mine plays ntsc dvds and not sure if they all do

Very good product, everything that was expected of it. Works well with the television and plays music perfect. Looks goos and functionss in the same manner.

Only bought this unit for spares for my S550. swapped the power supplies and I'm up and running again. As a system it seems fine.
