Sony Cyber-shot® DSC-W100 Digital Camera

I bought not one of these cameras but two. I bought the first for my wife, who cannot get on with anything other than a point and shoot camera. In fully automatic mode, the camera does everything for her. It never fails to produce a properly exposed, accurately focused picture. The rest is down to her use of the lens. My wife suggested we buy our daughter one for her birthday and she loves this camera. I looked at many digital compacts, the quality of the build, the high resolution (mega-pixels), movie modes, and battery life were all strong points which led me to choose this camera. Price was also a big consideration and at about £200, it was great value for money. The only thing I was disappointed in was that the camera did not come with a case. Sony charge a fortune for these, so I bought a good unbranded one for £5.00. My wife has successfully moved away from film to digital now and simply loves how easy it is to view the pictures immediately on the camera and on her laptop. Remember this camera does not come with an Memory Sticks. Recommend you buy the largest you can afford this camera produces huge images that are about 3-4Mb each. I also invested in an additional rechargeable battery as you can never be without one. Imagine running out of battery life right in the middle of taking pictures, embarrasing, awkward and sometimes aggrovating, but having an extra fully charged battery gives you the capability to take another 200-300 shots.
The manual is fairly easy reading and gives the owner a quick and easy method to operating the camera. I am usually put of by manuals they send me to sleep faster than a cup of horlicks, but the manual is laid out logically with a section on enjoying the camera as the first and most valuable part of the book.

So in summary, don't hesitate if your looking for a mid range compact digital camera. I highly recommend the Sony DSC-W100, its packed with features, but at the same time really simple to use. Good luck.
