Bought for my girlfriend for christmas, saw a friend's T-10 and was really inpressed with photo quality, large lcd screen on the back and gorgeous looks. Went for the T-50 because it had the larger 3 inch screen and a better flash.

First picture taken was of a TV (on) in pitch black from 6 feet away and you'd be hard pressed to know there wasn't another light source in the room. Very impressive. Colour reproduction is vivid and accurate, it takes very fast photos - much faster than my own pentax which the sony makes look mediocre at best. With 2gig memory card it can take over a thousand pics or 25 minutes of continues shooting at 640 x 480. Sound reproduction when played back through proper speakers and not those onboard the camera is also suprisingly good. Battery life is excellent (just like most sony portable devices).

Long range shots appear to me to be more detailed than other cameras in the range. I spent a good amount of time researching other cameras both online and asking a number of different sales assistants in a number of shops, the Canon range seemed to receive high praise but i compared similar photos and preferred the sony. Canons seem to suffer from poor barrel distortion which i hated...

Overall, i'm blown away with the quality, the feel of the camera, the touch screen desplay is easy to navigate and has great colour to it, pictures are fast which is so important for capturing the moment and it's hands down the best looking camera on the market - no arguments. Full marks Sony...

  The wonderful Sony T50

The Sony T50 is my first digital camera. I was attracted to it because of the 3" screen. To be honest I didn't know the first thing about cameras but did know 7.2 megapixels was good. I have been thrilled to bits with everything about my new camera, which was an amazingly good choice considering my ignorance.
Its so easy to use I hardly needed the instructions and the touch screen makes everything so simple. When I bought it I didn't realise I could take videos too so, thats been an added bonus.
The picture quality is fantastic, even at very close range and the colours are very good. Up to now I cant find any faults with the T50 and it has opened up a new world of photography to me.
I would recommend this camera to anyone.

I have had the camera for a couple of months now and am delighted with its performance. The large 3" screen is a joy to use and watch playback on. The touch screen facility makes the camera very easy to use and I love the write feature that allows you to write messages onto the photo by scribing onto the touchscreen.
The picture quality is great and takes perfect pictures in all light conditions.

Great camera at a great price

  Sony DSC T50 Camera

I've had a FujiFilm FinePix 1400Zoom since the dark ages and its served me very well indead. Unfortunately I dropped it and broke the shutter clip and the battery housing clip.
I was looking for a small but powerful camera that I could carry around in my pocket and after some investigation decided on a Sony DSC T50.
The camera is excellent and very easy to use. The touch screen instructions are very clear and if an "old fart" like me can use them, anybody can. Highly recommended.

  Sony Cyber-Shot® DSC-T50 Digital Camera

I'm quite new to digital cameras and wanted my first one to be the best I could get. I done my homework and every time I checked cameras out it came to one conclusion - that the Sony DSC-T50 was the best out there.

My first impression was on how small and stylish it is - I couldn't really believe that all the features are crammed into such a small camera. It has all the features you would expect from a digital camera and the pictures it takes are amazing. The 3" touch screen is excellent and on it's own is a great way to view your snaps. Showing them on TV is better though, as the phone has some excellent slide shows in which you can add your own music to play alongside them.

It also records video brilliantly as well - i've recorded better video's on this camera than I have seen on much more costly camcorders. The camera comes bundled with all the PC software and connectors so you don't need to worry there either.

If the camera had a downside it would be that a carry case is a must to protect it from scratches and it's a shame it doesn't come bundled with a 'proper' one (instead of the lightweight 'baggie' which is included). I would also recommend buying a decent photo printer as well to really do your snaps justice. I'm really nitpicking however!

In summary, this is an excellent camera that I would recommend to anyone and at the price it is generally listed for on eBay, it's excellent value for money as well.

  Time for a change - DSC-T50
Review created: 01/04/07

I was taken in by it's good looks and the SONY name tag.

The DSC-T50 is slim, lightwieght and has a great 3" screen but after that it has let me down and I'm going to buy a Fuji F31fd or maybe a Nikon S9.

Why?!...

I have no problems with bright light outdoor scenes and indoors with flash if I am happy to wait for the camera to actually take the picture. It is frustraitingly slow to actually shoot. If DSC means Dither Slow Camera then the description is accurate. But I mis vital action shots and kids fleeting expressions whilst the camera 'thinks about it.'

Indoors without flash is ok, but as mentioned before is an enhanced dark image rather than a genuinely more sensitive camera.

Battery life is a further failing. Claims 400 shots. Hmmm.. Can't achieve half that in the real world.

The touch screen is an painful gimmick, buy you dont have to use it and make better use of the nice big 3" screen.

One thing it is very good at is Video. Although not a great shape for recording video snippets, the results are better than average.

And it really does look good! - But looks aren't everything!

Better than my previous camera but few niggles

Initially I was very impressed with my new Sony. Worth the extra money I thought. Screen is big and clear and handling feels natural with most buttons where you expect.

Output indoors with flash can't be faulted - very accurate exposure even close up. Without flash, it can produce an image in very poor light but the results seem rather manipulated when compared with a friends Fuji camera in same lighting. My images are like those 'brightened by photoshop' rather than actually capturing as much detail.

When showing off my Sony to my friend I also had to admit to a couple of other failings compared to it's cheaper rival. The Fuji is quicker - MUCH Quicker! and the screen up date is smoother too.

In bright light, there is little to choose between the two cameras, except that I did mis-frame a couple of action shots waiting for the DSC to respond.

I was left feeling a little dissapointed with my purchase after comparing the two, but would still rate the Sony very highly and certainly prefer it's looks and handling to the Fuji. But I would suggest buyers compare before parting with your cash as it seems some of the lesser well known makes are close on Sony's heals and have the edge technically in soem departments!

  Great camera, value for money

I bought this camera for my nephew as a present. I decided to try it myself to make sure it works fine as I bought it from e-bayer. I already own a Fuji Finepix S20 Pro. To my surprise, the quality if this Sony Camera is so good that I can't really tell much difference between the two cameras.Mind you, I'm no expert in photography. Without reading the instruction, I managed to get this camera up and running in no time. Its features are user friendly and with rechargable battery, you don't keep on buying four AAs type that frequently (the S20 Pro). I bougth extra battery from another e-bayer and the camera already came with 2Gb memory which is handy. This camera is highly recommended to anyone including a beginner like me. Its beautifully designed whethe black or silver, and I'm sure my nephew will cherish it dearly.

  CYBER SHOT DSC T50

This camera is very good for close up shots, and has a brillant Marco feature.
It is a 'cute' camera and i'd say great for nights out, however the flash could be better when being used in dark places.

I was suprised the T50 didn't have more shooting features, like other brands do. This was a shame because the picture quaility is very sharp. You are very limited in the changes you can make to a picture after it has been taken, ie colour to black and white is not possible. You would have to do this on your PC once you have uploaded your shots.

Great size screen and the touch screen is a good and RELIABLE feature.
The T50 comes in serveral great colours which is quite fun!

Overall its better than average but not excellent.

A beautiful compact little camera with a huge screen. The only drawback is the lack of a view finder which seems important in very bright weather conditions.

I was looking in the market for a digital camera and since i knew i could find a bargin on ebay decided to look around and see.I did not know much about digital cameras so as i looked at different models and read their discriptions,it came to me that the best to suit my needs was a sony DSC-T50.Although it came a little late in delivery that is the only bad thing i can say about it.It came complete and they said i would recieve a one gig card, but instead they gave me a 2 gig card in the same price which really put a smile on my face. I got it at a great bargin £200.00 cheaper than the high street.Since i have got it,it has already paid for it self as i have been able to use it to download pictures of items i have been selling on ebay. Thus turning from a buyer to a seller and its been great.I have just come back from a 5 star holiday from dubai with my girlfriend and it was all due to the camera i bought from ebay!.I used it there and took photos and made a video with it too.I made enough money in two weeks on ebay by taking pitures of items i did not need around the house and downloading them on to my laptop and sold them quick and made buckets of cash its the best thing i've done its a shame i did not discover this years ago!.I have now told my family about my great money making and bargin buying on ebay and theres five more ebayers in the family and growing. Its all good and its gona get a lot better.Cheers to the seller and to ebay.harry

wow what a great camera with a large touch screen you can see your potential pictures at a reasonable size, easy to use quick and easy to change any settings, the picture review is also absolutely superb, effects are ace and you can write details, messages or names on your pictures, with the pen! great, it is a small camera with big features and big ideas, well worth buying, especially with a 2gb memory card, from portraits to landscapes and pictures of the luna eclipse its great.
I would recommend it to everyone. I have a cyber shot dc-9 and it has been great but this new one brilliant

This is an amazing camera with all the mod cons you could ask for - very lightweight, easy to use, with many extras such as slide shows multi functions which give you 4 options as to how you want the slide show filtering in effects etc, with or without music - it also has an optional GPS function which shows where in the world you took the picture, and a calendar function taht shows you the date and which pictures were taken on that date - fantastic graphics and pixels quality make this the platimum of sony camera!!! very worth the money

Not knowing I only had the pleasure of using this feature packed camera for 2 days,I can only respond to inital impressions. I found the cd based pdf. manual a bit of a cop out, its obiously a cheaper option but a hard copy is far easyer to refere to.The video mode is OK and makes the best of available light with control of zoom function, but didn't have time to evaluate sound quatity!I did compare the picture quality with a Canon Ixus 850,the Ixus was sharper with better colour definition,but...asthetics and features are important... aren't they!.It is a good camera, was I dissapoited when my wife pleaded ownership of my latest 2 day old"toy".. well it was a half harted protest!...She loves it,Ive got browny points
.......!
