I had a pentax 2mp camera that i bought in the states a few years ago and it served me well but it was about time i bought myself a more modern camera so i plumped for the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H1 Digital Camera with 12x optical zoom, automatic flash and a whole host of features.
The camera is 5.1mp and has a real big 2" lcd screen. To be honest there are so many features on this camera that i haven't yet used but i am sure in time i will.
The battery life is amazing compared to my old camera which is always handy.It take 2 aa batteries.
The only downside to this camera is that the manual is 107 pages long and is taking me a while to get through.
I would urge anyone to take a good look at this camera as it has all you could want although that said it is a rather chunky piece of kit.

This camera is superb. My husband bought one last year for our trip to Hawaii and when we took the memory card in to have some of the pics printed larger than we can do at home, the shop thought they were profesional pictures taken with a professional camera.
Considering that we hadn't read the user manual and pretty much used it as a point & click camera, thats not bad!
I had a different sony cybershot, a little compact point & click type which is good but no-where near the quality & functionality that this camera has.

) When I first saw this camera in the flesh I thought, hear we go again back to school learning all the features.How wrong was I , its got a read me fist leaflet that gets you taking photo's in no time and still had lots of features to go at.I found the camera easy to hold and took some pictures in minutes of taking out of the box ,features include anti shake red eye reduction and auto focus.As a complete novice at taking photographs and thought would never take a good picture in my life this camera made it easy for me to do so.Still got a lot to learn about taking good photographs, may be a DSLR in two or three years when I need interchangable lens's and so on but for the price this is a very good buy and recommend as a first mid range camera.
