I am stepping up from an older prosumer camera, like a lot of buyers don't fancy paying more than £500 for a camera, especially as the first thing your going to buy is a couple of extra lenses.
first things first i consider this to be good value at around £400 with the 18-70mm lens. I understand the basics of photography and it's really easy to use i got the hang of it without the instruction manual however read it later on for techy 'bits'.
The results are good, sharp pics, fast focus, easy to understand, battery life, fast live view, in fact as i'm writting this it's hard to fault. the old addage holds true if you pay more you generally get better quality, you can pay much, much more for a camera but as a move up from compact photography this is hard to beat.
Problems ! none really, if you're not used to SLR's its bulky - but all SLR's are, you will generally be carrying extra lenses ( what i'm getting round to is you can't just take them out on a night out round town )
The continuous frame rate could do with being a bit faster, on max res around 3 per second but it slows very quickly after the first 3 or 4 frames ( sounds fast but isn't in real life )
I am nit picking its a really good digital SLR, you can get much better results but you will have to pay £500 plus and the problem is as you pay more the results are only slightly better and i would only consider this if i was printing all photos on large size.
hope this helps bill.
