Slumdog Millionaire (DVD)

The film that wowed Hollywood on Oscars night, picking up eight awards including Best Picture and Best Director (Danny Boyle). It's a colourful love story, thriller and comedy all in one. The flashbacks may confuse some viewers and the numerous sub-titles are much too small.

It seemed very disjointed, it had been recommended to us plus all the right ups that We have read. Sub titles too small which made them dificult to read plus jumping from one side of the screen to another.

Never got around to seeing this at the cinema so bought it instead. Story line easy to follow and there's a particular scene in the film that made me laugh (involving a child locked in a toilet ! - I will say no more as don't want to spoil it for you!)
Loved the music in this film at the end.

I decided to by the film as I was in India when the film was released,it is a keepsake of very good memories, the film shows real life situations and how the kids really do live in slums and are treated so badly by adults, India is a real cultural shock and the film brings that home.

Fantastic feel good film. Wonderful scenes, great insight into Indian slums, brilliant cast and absolutely indescribable soundtrack.

Well this film is for you. I only just watched it a week ago, and all i have to say is WOW!. It is a masterpiece.

Now i am a film fiend, i have hundreds and love all genres, but i am a major critic, i am the sort who will sit and watch a film and know everything that is going to happen ten minutes into it. I have to say folks this film completely astounded me. It has everything.

The basic plot is this.... a bloke, managed to swindle his way onto the indian version of Who wants to be a millionnaire?. Well sounds boring huh?. i thought so too. Anyway, he wins, but what did you expect? it's a movie, of course..... But however, he gets beaten up, chased, lived a life of poverty, and accused of being a cheat. For what, for being clever?.... No wrong again.

The story is a film of morals and very true to life. It shows us ebayers who regularly take life for granted, how unfortunate others are living in the slums. Often throughout this film, i found my self covered with used tissues, from the sadness of the realisation of how the world actually is behind closed doors. It's shocking and does shake you to the core. The only reason that the boy knew all the answers was due to his horrific life as a child. Surely a life of poverty and running, and doing anything to feed, is going to give you more knowledge of the world than any masters degree.

There is action, drama, moral, sadness, violence, gangs, poverty, romance, money and generally.... it is a bloody brilliant film. Take it from 'the ultimate critic' You would be a fool to miss such a life changing film.

Excellent film, deserved all the awards and acclaim received. So nice to see something so different.

I think because everyone raved about this film I thought it was going to be great. I did not like that it flashed back and forth in time. The subtitles where very poor as they are small and writen in orange so were hard to read. I didnt even finish watching as I got fed up of reading what they were saying. I may give it another go one day and watch it all but I doubt it as I have had it 2-3 months now. not my sort of film at all. If i watch the rest I may come back and change this, but an hour into the film I was still not enjoying it.

I saw the DVD up for grabs & won the bid. I missed the film when it came round, so watched it in the comfort of my own home. It was an original DVD & perfect!

Not edition illustrated, but better (don't like the English cover). Prompt delivery, and well packaged.

I had heard that the above DVD was good, so I bought it and it was better than expected. As I know Bombay reasonably well, it brought back many pleasant memories .

Iwas surprised as to how a very good story was derived from the subject. I thoroughly enjoyed the film and it was a change to have a plot to follow rather then a series of sxpecial effects

Fine film which portrays a sanitised version of life's reality in some cultures. Wonderfully shot with characters carfully crafted. Good piece of entertainment but not for all the family. Some harsh scenes would not be suitable for younger audiences.

Great film, well made. Decided to buy to see what all the hype was about, i now know. Well worth a watch.

I decided to buy it for my friend's birthday since we both saw the film together & though it was amazing, we even have the soundtrack!!! Possibly the best film I've ever seen, which is pretty good considering it's definately not my favourite genre. I love Dev Patel & I think he is an amazing actor who played his part really well. Such an good film with a brilliant plot and moral.

I love this film, it has everything: Action, drama, love, violence, fear, and most of all, a truely original and captivating storyline.
I went to watch Slumdog Millionaire at the cinema and as soon as the film finished I said to myself, "I am definately buying that when it comes out on DVD." And I have. And I can't wait to sit down and watch it again tonight.
