Album Notes Personnel: Elton John (vocals, piano, keyboards); Davey Johnstone (guitar, keyboards, background vocals); Jonathan Moffett (guitar, drums); Vince Denham (saxophone); Fred Mandel, Guy Babylon (keyboards); Romeo Williams (bass); Marlena Jeter, Natalie Jackson, Mortonette Jenkins (background vocals). Recorded at Puk Studios, Denmark.Digitally remastered by Gus Dudgeon.SLEEPING WITH THE PAST finds Elton John finishing off the eighties with a mature, and above all, serious musical statement. Kicking off with the tropical groove and social message of "Durban Deep," the album moves straight into the anthemic "Healing Hands," with its larger-than-life chorus, inspiring lyric and stirring piano runs. The seamless teamwork of Elton and Bernie Taupin reaches a career high with the instant classic, "Sacrifice," a tender ballad which instantly took its rightful place among the pair's best work. This varied, solid work finishes out with the epic production number that is "Amazes Me" and the quiet build and slow burn of "Blue Avenue." | |||||||||||

Being an Elton fan though, I have to say there are certainly great songs on here. Whispers is a mellow sound that you can relax too. Amazes Me is another good sounding song well worth listening to. It also has Club at the End of the Street which Elton played at the Madison Square Consort back in October 2000. A nice fun tune. Overall, worth adding to the collection but many would proceed it for quality. Review ID: 10000000004003957 Was this review helpful? I don't remember him doing a bad album, some were just superior to others. Thanks Elton for many years of pleasure - musically, that is ! Review ID: 10000000007885281 Was this review helpful? Report this review The delivery of the item was slow. Furthermore the CD arrived without the main sleeve cover and it came in a cracked case with permanent black marker numbers on it. This was not how the item was described by the seller who stated it was "used" and in "excellent" condition, a far cry from the photo on the sellers page. I can accept that the CD may have been damaged in the post but that does not excuse what I recieved and what should have been sent. I therefore I would not be recommending them to other ebay buyers.
