Two young sisters, orphaned in a car crash in 1944, are taken to live in the elegant Tuscan villa of their mother's sister. They soon regard it as their own private paradise but grim events of the war soon enfold them and those they love. Powerful, touching Italian drama stars Isabella Rossellini and Jeroen Krabbe.
