Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow (DVD 2005)

What's with all this hollywood malarky... And why, if you're making a kids movie, does it seem to be acceptable to completely forget about the need to 'act'. I thought Jude Law (who i usually rate) was pretty bland,- he just didn't convince me for a second... Angelina Jolie (who i *adore*) was equally tragic, not giving a toss about reading her lines with any kind of conviction... Then there's Gwyneth... who, in general, i can't frickin stand... only on this occasion she (sometimes) pulls it off... i think if the rest of the cast had been on the same wavelength as Paltrow, then this film coulda stood a chance... But, they weren't, and it doesn't.

Yet another tragic waste of millions of movie-making dollars.

A VERY WELL PRICED DVD,I ACTUALLY MADE A MISTAKE WHEN I PURCHASED THIS BY NOT READING THE LISTING PROPERLY, I THOUGHT I WAS BYING THE PSP UMD MOVIE OF THIS FILM.

SO THAT IS A GOOD LESSON FOR EVERYONE READ THE LISTING PROPERLY. BUT THE DVD IS STILL GOOD AND GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY FOR A BRAND NEW SEALED DVD THANKYOU FROM DEAN

Excellent film funny serious and kool nt much of the sexy angelina init but when she she is hot to trot as always and looks fine in the outfit know what i mean cute as cute can be and that patch well whatever floats your boat ha ha good film.

Any film with angelina jolie in leather is fine by me. This film brings together a exciting story and fantastic effects. I decided to buy it because i never managed to catch it when it was on tv, buying it also meant that i could watch it over and over and over again.

An homage to the classic sf serials of a bygone era (even down to being filmed in washed-out colour), the acting doesn't convince but the special (cgi)effects are compelling - as is the dark storyline. A bizzare twist is the casting of the dead english actor Laurence Olivier in the role of the villain.

I didn't see this in the cinema which is a pity now as it was a really good film. The filming style was the bit selling point but the story is really good too. A very different film well worth watching.
