Singin' In The Rain (DVD 2001)

Probably one of the best musicals of all time, the musical was written because of the song, instead of the song being written for the musical.

In my opinion this one of the greatest film musicals to

come out of the MGM studios.It has everything a musical should have.

The dancing is superb,the songs were great,(not so keen on the singing voices)

I Loved it.!!!!

I decided to buy it because of the price.

The DVD is in perfect condition, the delivery was fast and i didn't have any problem at all

I bought the Singin' in the Rain dvd originally as a christmas present for my mother, unfortunately this wonderful movie never got to 'being wrapped' stage at all... I blame it on the weather.

You see it started out a cold, miserable day and I was wondering how to entertain my very energetic 3 year old when my secret desire emerged. I pulled off the cellophane with warm anticipation and placed the disc into the machine and hey presto my (all along)wish came true.

From that moment on both myself and my little dynamo were entranced by the sounds and colours of a different era. With singing, dancing and great optimism the film unfolded, starting with 'i can dance, gotta dance' which still sings in my head, to the most wonderful screen boogy ever...'singing in the rain' itself. It was adorable to behold. The rain outside paled to significance to the buckets pouring down in the film.

I would recommend this movie for all ages, to brighten the spirit and I can guarantee it will have you humming for a long time after. Singin' in the Rain is a must have for the film collector who appreciates that age has nothing to do with brilliance, that classics are to be adored for many years to come. I also see it as my duty to show my daughter there are wonders out there, you just need to know about them.

I've always loved this movie, as it incorporates everything that's good in musicals. It's an all-time classic, which is why I had to include it in my DVD collection. If I'm feeling down, I watch this and feel happy. What better recommendation could it have?

started getting my favarite musicals on dvd. i have always enjoyed this one. but my daughter wanted this one. we all sit down as a family and put on a dvd. this film will be watched time and time again as its a timeless classic

A must have for any musical film lover, one of the very best of the genre. All singing, all dancing, this film has it all and more!

I love this film - It's amazing. Really funny, really clever, very entertaining. With classic scenes with classic songs like singin' in the rain and goodmorning. A real feel good movie.

i brought this for my mum who loves musicals. its a good old film. if you love musicals you will love this.

For any of you who have never seen this film (there cant be many) it is an age old working of rich famous man, poor chorus girl, love, singing and laughs. Its a fantastic film whihc stillmakes me cry at the end, a real must see!

because my grandson wanted to see gene kelly dancing and it is a good film for all the family there is no bad language or violence so any age can watch.

I bought this as a present for my 60 year old mother but the film is completely timeless and loved by all ages. I've watched many musicals and this one never fails to make me smile!

I decided to buy the dvd as I am a big movie fan and quite like the old movies, and this one is a classic. They certainly dont make them like this anymore.

An era gone by when I was part of the real film industry - not as it now appears when newcomers are allowed to realise their fantasy dream with no respect for money.

In this exhilarating musical comedy, Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly) is a famous silent film star who barely tolerates his vapid leading lady, Lina Lamont (Jean Hagen). Everyone is convinced their screen romance is real. After the first talking picture in Hollywood proves to be a smash hit, the head of the studio, R.F. Simpson (Millard Mitchell), decides he has no choice but to convert the new Lockwood and Lamont film into a talkie.

The production is beset with difficulties by far the worst being Lina's comically grating voice. So Don's best friend Cosmo Brown (Donald O'Connor) suggests they dub over her voice with someone better, and they bring in Kathy Selden (Debbie Reynolds) to sing and speak Lamont's parts. Subsequently, Don falls in love with Kathy but they must keep their relationship a secret to preserve the Perfect Lamont/Lockwood Hollywood Couple. All is well until Lina finds out about them and threatens to ruin Kathy's career to save her own.

As you'd expect from a Gene Kelly directed/choreographed picture, there are some fabulous dance numbers one featuring the stunning Cyd Charisse, complimented with some timeless songs including the title tune, "Gotta Dance" and "Good Mornin'". Unfortunately this first DVD issue doesn't contain any extras which is a shame considering this was such a well known and much loved film.
