Excellent, original film! NOT a Tarantino film!

Sin City is a cinematic masterpiece. The photography and art direction is second to none, and after my 3rd viewing I'm still noticing new things. The acting is superb, even the usually wooden Clive Owen is more than tolerable, but Mickey Rourke absolutely steals the show as Marv, the man mountain. Brittany Murphy turns up a fantastic performance as a ditsy gangsters moll, and Benicio Del Toro shows off his many acting skills as a ...oh, I won't spoil it for you.
The violence is gratuitous and frequent, but only enhances the film noir aspect - if you don't like violence, why watch a Robert Rodriguez film? Everyone's seen From Dusk Till Dawn so the violence shouldn't be a surprise! Plus the fight scenes are a welcome relief from all the rubbish Matrix/Crouching Tiger-style flying and flipping and bending - am I the only one who finds people flying across treetops with swords a bit lame?! Check out Hartigan's (Bruce Willis) fight with the repulsive yellow guy - kick ass!
Rodriguez, by the way, directed the film, along with Frank Miller. Not quite sure why everyone thinks it's a Tarantino film, for a start Uma Thurman isn't in it, and secondly it was entertaining and well written, with conclusions to each story and no pointless discussions about Madonna etc. - couldn't possibly be Tarantino. Tarantino WAS a guest director, but luckily it doesn't seem to have ruined anything.
This is my first ever review, I'm not one of those movie geeks who writes in about everything, but I enjoyed this film so much I thought I'd share it! Enjoy!
