reel to real cacophony

originally released in 1979,along with the Empires & Dance LP,when Jim Kerr had a penchant for wearing eye-liner,playing to small crowds in even smaller, sweaty clubs & before the stadium-filling anthems, the band were virtually unknown outside of Scotland.
this unusual,quirky,avant-garde offering captures the band in a rich, experimental phase, yet their songwriting abilities & obvious talent still push to the surface.
Saturated with vocal treatments & unusual effects, the recording bears all the production hallmarks of revered Scottish producer John Leckie, quite obviously nurturing & developing the bands understanding of advanced studio recording techniques.
I personally love this LP,& feel the work done around this time set them in very good stead for the future. After this,a trip to America & studio time with avant-garde guitarist Steve Hillage pushed them on even further down the road to greatness.
But hey, thats another album-&-a-half,& another story.
