Due to lack of funds I bought this Sigma lens and even though it does not have auto focus it is still a good piece of kit to have. Despite its size I take it out and use it without a tripod and the shots do come out well. A bit softer than the Nikon lenses but its still worth every penny and probably more once I get used to the F.stops.

This is a great lens and truly brilliant for the money. I guess the only slight fly in the ointment is the maximum aperture of f4-5.6 and the fact that the macro only operates between 200-300 mm. Neither are surprising given the price and wanting more of either will cost a LOT more. The lens does expand when using macro to truly telescopic proportions so be prepared for it but as you will probably be far from the object that should not be an issue. Great sharp pictures and a very useful macro makes this lens truly great value for money!
