I have only had this lens a short time but it seems to live up to all the reviews I have read. Yes it is heavy but I knew it was going to be, simple to use - a great asset and the results are stunning. Very crisp images even at 500mm and on the computer they stand a great deal of blowing up, very impressive. Bought it because I wanted a telephoto lens of this magnitude but at a reasonable price and simply no regrets.

For extreme telephoto coverage, I had always used a Tamron 500mm mirror lens. The problem of course is that as a fixed focal optic, it's pretty limited in use. However when Sigma introduced the 'Bigma' I thought WOW! that's the lens for me. Now it's optically enhanced for digital and of course with improved auto focus, and that 10-1 zoom range is so, so useful. Of course, it's big, heavy, but oh so flexible and the results are great!!!
