Shrek 2 (DVD 2004)

In the league of crowd-pulling Hollywood names, the only difference between Tom Cruise and Shrek is that the animated fat, green ogre does not get paid $25m (£14m) per movie.

What the original Shrek - which made $455m (£258m) around the world when it was released in 2001 - did well, Shrek 2 does better.

This is superb film and animation, whether your young,middle aged, paretns, grand parents, i defy anyone who can watch either of am, and not think wow at the film or the animation, even the gags are funny, some suttlely naughty, and some clever, BUT THIS IS SUPERB, DEFO MUST BUY, (if this helps please press yes)

Shrek was a massive box office hit. So much so, that Shrek 2 became one of the most anticipated animation sequels in years. It had a seriously tough act to follow, but when word got out that much the original team had been invited back to produce the goods, expectations were understandably high. More so when several new big name stars joined the cast (including Antonio Bandera, John Cleese, Rupert Everet and Julie Andrews) Add to that was the technological advancements made over the last few years... the extra lighting effects, the subtle changes in skin texture and so on.
And to a degree, these elements all came together quite nicely to produce a highly enjoyable film. Everything definitely seems a little more polished. The animation is crisper, the sequences tighter. The plot is witty and well thought out. The characters are strong - the Fairy godmother is deliciously wicked, Puss in Boots wonderfully portrayed. It is an excellent production.
And yet, despite the added glitz and glamour, despite the added effort, something seemed to be missing. Perhaps it was the hype. Perhaps it was the curse of the sequel. Perhaps it was because the ground it was covering was no longer fresh. Perhaps. Either way, in spite of some excellent voice over performances, most notably from Eddie Murphy, delivered his lines with excellent comedic timing, and some superb sequences, the `meet the parents' scene, for example, the movie failed to reach the heights of its predecessor. Still, when all is said and done, it's definitely worth a watch. We do all, after all, have a right to know what happens to married couples after hearing those ill fated words, `happily ever after'!

you must add this dvd to your collection, it's a classic.
children love it as its got many fictional fun character in it, and adults love it as it has many insinuations all throught it that children never notice!even when you laugh they think its because Shrek made a funny face.
the jokes just pour out of this film and every time you watch it you hear things you didnt before, making this film just as funny as the first time you watch it, everytime you wacth it. im pretty openminded but i really cant seem to think of any type of person who wouldn't like this film. its incredibly entertaining and on the dvd you get little extra features that you didnt see in the cinema .e.g far far away idol- shrek 2's version of pop idol.
great as a present for anyone or if your just spoiling yourself!

i enjoy this as much as my kids do! This is the second dvd ive brought as we watched the first one so much we wore it out =(

WOW.

Princess Fiona, Shrek & the ineviitable Donkey travle to the land of Far Far Away to meet the Parents of Princess Fiona.

Only trouble is, Donkey is bored, Fiona is excitied and Shrek well, he just doesn't want to be there.

All hell breaks loose, insults are traded, and Fiona is left being hurt.

I'll leave it their, but it's worth the buy to see Shrek looking like Gordon Brown and Donkey as a sexy Stallion baby!

You will not be disappointed.

Instead of forking out £2.50 a time to borrow a DVD from our local library, it suits me better to buy DVD's on E-bay. Having already seen Shrek I, I didn't think it could get much better but it does! This film is less dark (no fire-breathing dragons and burning castles)and generally more cheery with some great musical moments. Whatever you do don't miss the Pop Idol game at the end which is so much fun my daughter has played it continuously! Several more celebrities have added there voices to some great new characters including Jennifer Saunders as the brilliant Fairy Godmother. However, yet again, Donkey steals the show!

I can't speak highly enough about this film. It is one of my all time favourites.

In really lovely condition, i decided to buy shrek 2 because my little girl and i watched the 1st shrek and totally loved it, ive also bought her shrek 3 so have a nice little collection now, thanku very much.

I purchased this item for my 4 year old son. He watched it on television and laughed his head off. The price was brilliant and the service and delivery was fantastic.

I purchased the shrek dvd for my daughter who had been looking for it for a while, but is no longer available in the shops. We were very pleased with it, the postage was really fast and the condition was very good too even though it was used. I think its great being able to find things on e.bay that are no longer in the shops. Overall we were very pleased with the item.

I love this film just as much as the first, its got all the original characters which is always good, its got just as much laughter, it certainly made me laugh. I decided to buy it because i havent got it basically, ive seen it but its worth buying so i can watch it whenever i want. Mike Myers is also a very very funny guy even as a orge :)

i prefer it to the original, very clever, funny, well made, great for adults, my daughter doesn't understand the part when shrek isn't an ogre lol

A very amusing and entertaining DVD, bought for my grandchild but adults love the Shrek storys as well. Clever and comical dialogue, animation well produced, overall the shrek series appeal to all ages. and will have a long shelf life compared to some other more recent films.

Bought this as a replacement, my son wore out our original copy, that is how popular Shrek is in our house! Fabulous film for all the family, will appeal to any sense of humour. Not just for kids, my husband loves it.

Brilliant, just as good as the 1st. All your favourite characters and fantastic actors. You've just got to have this film in your collection. Highly recommended.
